Amadeus Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 ..and all other heavy machinery people: Sod the steam packet - use a digger! Like this guy on popular German TV show "Wetten Dass" (roughly meaning "I bet you, that....") the other night. His bet: That he can cover a 300 meter stretch of water with a barge in 4 minutes by using a digger as propulsion, or to be precise: by parking the digger on the barge and using the bucket as paddle, kinda like a giant kajak: http://www.zdf.de/ZDFmediathek/content/652036 I've tried to rip the clip, but the very efficient and secure website of Germany's equivalent to the BBC wouldn't let me, so to see it click on the link and when you see this page click the top option "Zur ZDFmediathek": That will launch the player window pop-up. Choose your preferred player, bandwidth and click "Übernehmen": and there you go - not only will you see a digger do something rather unusual, but you also learned some German along the way - win-win, isn't it? (He didn't manage to do it btw - failed by a few seconds. He's now Austrian as we do not tolerate failure on live TV..)
jim Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 Is this German humour Amadeus? thats hardly an efficient way to propel a barge, nor is using an rc plane to blow out candles!
Amadeus Posted December 15, 2008 Author Posted December 15, 2008 It sure isn't efficient, but it's entertaining. Just marvel at the precision on display there Come to think of it: That digger & barge affair is probably more efficient & reliable than any of the SP's "fast crafts" and I really do want one of them rc planes they were using!
