Heard this piece of Saint Saens tonight for the first time in very similar circumstances.

The unaccompanied pianos were just fantastic.

Music is a wonderful thing. And the huge effort people put in to be able to play such wonderful compositions. Ah ... what a lovely experience.

This piece is reverberating around our house at the moment. Just love it.

I like it…but I miss the orchestration.

I see where you're coming from, especially with the guitar sound.

But it reminds me more of The Divine Comedy - maybe it's his vocal tone...

Me too. One of my favourite players. Stevie was incredible but Jimmie taught him everything he knew. He used to do the stunt guitar thing with the Thunderbirds but since those days he's more about classic Texas rhythm and blues and plays well within himself. I splashed out on his box-set a while ago.

Great clip - great band.   Pre-King Crimson Pat Mastelotto on drums, Sara Lee on bass and the Mighty Robert Quine on lead guitar.   Sorry to hear that Matthew Sweet has suffered a stroke recently and can’t tour for the foreseeable - he was a big chunk of my listening in the 1990s, when avoiding the Blur/Oasis bunfight...
