Chinahand Posted October 8 Posted October 8 Heard this piece of Saint Saens tonight for the first time in very similar circumstances. The unaccompanied pianos were just fantastic. Music is a wonderful thing. And the huge effort people put in to be able to play such wonderful compositions. Ah ... what a lovely experience. Quote

Jarndyce Posted October 12 Posted October 12 (edited) I see where you're coming from, especially with the guitar sound. But it reminds me more of The Divine Comedy - maybe it's his vocal tone... Edited October 12 by Jarndyce typo 1 Quote
Jarndyce Posted October 13 Posted October 13 I know Stevie gets all the attention - but I’d rather listen to Jimmie… 1 Quote
Shake me up Judy Posted October 14 Posted October 14 Me too. One of my favourite players. Stevie was incredible but Jimmie taught him everything he knew. He used to do the stunt guitar thing with the Thunderbirds but since those days he's more about classic Texas rhythm and blues and plays well within himself. I splashed out on his box-set a while ago. 1 Quote

Jarndyce Posted October 15 Posted October 15 Heard this again recently - the original is great, but I really like this cover… Quote
Jarndyce Posted October 23 Posted October 23 (edited) Great clip - great band. Pre-King Crimson Pat Mastelotto on drums, Sara Lee on bass and the Mighty Robert Quine on lead guitar. Sorry to hear that Matthew Sweet has suffered a stroke recently and can’t tour for the foreseeable - he was a big chunk of my listening in the 1990s, when avoiding the Blur/Oasis bunfight...
