Observer Posted July 12, 2004 Posted July 12, 2004 I can see breast-feeding becoming out of fashion as the years go by, so eventually it's limited to "tree huggers" who wear sandles and people who cant afford to buy formula milk. I'm all for breast-feeding, and now I'm going to get my pro-breastfeeding t-shirt on and protest. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Heh! (Good post too by the way)
Uni Posted July 12, 2004 Posted July 12, 2004 We all know you tried it conc, all that knowledge doesn't come from no where
joeyconcrete Posted July 12, 2004 Posted July 12, 2004 I'm all for breast-feeding, and now I'm going to get my pro-breastfeeding t-shirt on and protest. On second thoughts, I better go change a nappy! and then, maybe, sleep. Ans this insomnia thing, I think I've got it. We all know you tried it conc, all that knowledge doesn't come from no where Fortunately I don't like milk much. So I keep well away from cow's milk and the stuff you buy in shops
Observer Posted July 12, 2004 Posted July 12, 2004 I'll bet! That's how come most women get nipple fatigue... no wonder they don't want to do it any more.... Teehee.
joeyconcrete Posted July 12, 2004 Posted July 12, 2004 they don't want to do it any more. "they" try "me" ... (well for the fore-seeable future, eh until i forget or drink too much or just give-in)
zephyr Posted July 12, 2004 Posted July 12, 2004 Humans are so inconsistent, we don't bat an eye lid at dogs cats cows sheep shagging, we have no qualms about pornography, the males enjoy the titillation of a female wearing next to nothing on a night out but we feel uncomfortable at the thought of a breastfeeding mum. Why should they hide, why should they go to a different room, most of us were raised at the teat, what's the problem?
Observer Posted July 12, 2004 Posted July 12, 2004 I guess it's because they are not being used in the manner they were intended for... DOH!
Minnie Posted July 12, 2004 Author Posted July 12, 2004 Think you've kinda missed the point here, concrete. Nobody's disputing the fact that breastmilk is best, I'm talking about the appropriate time and place for mothers to breastfeed in public.
Observer Posted July 12, 2004 Posted July 12, 2004 And I think you've been rather selective about the point he was making. The fact that breast is best was one facet of the view he held.
zephyr Posted July 12, 2004 Posted July 12, 2004 Grown man versus baby. Grown man :- I'm feeling a bit peckish think I'll nip into the shop get myself a sandwich/pie/pastie/burger and eat it as I walk down the street Baby :- I'm feeling a bit peckish but I'm not allowed money and I haven't got any teeth to eat the sandwich/pie/pastie/burger, where's that thing that I can suck on? No hang on I'm out with mum in public so I'll just have to wait until we're in a more suitable place. I'd hate for mum to feel uncomfortable.
WilDDog Posted July 12, 2004 Posted July 12, 2004 When a babys hungry he/she has to be fed, mothers should feel free to feed there babies when and wherever they please.
Minnie Posted July 12, 2004 Author Posted July 12, 2004 And I think you've been rather selective about the point he was making. The fact that breast is best was one facet of the view he held. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I was merely pointing out that concrete appears to have missed the point as he seems to think people are anti-breastfeeding because of their views on breastfeeding in public.
Jay Posted July 12, 2004 Posted July 12, 2004 She may have been able to wait but what about the baby? I see nothing wrong with a mother breast feeding in public, it is natural, why are people so uptight? Why do you see it as inappropriate? people go topless on holiday, no complaints, topless models in newspapers, no complaint, a woman decides to feed her child, xxxxxxx uproar. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Natural? well yes of course it is. But what could be more natural than the naked body and the act of procreation? You wouldnt bat an eyelid at a naked couple going at it like rabbits in the middle of strand street on a saturday afternoon? It's a natural act but hardly the appropriate place, and that after all is the thrust of the discussion.
