Declan Posted July 18, 2004 Posted July 18, 2004 Interesting philosophical debate this. My view is that people should bring up their kids as they see fit but that doesn't mean they have the right to impose the standards they wish to instill in their kids on others. So initially I thought Minnie was wrong - she is trying to instill her opinions in her kid - fair enough. And expects others to assist her by amending their behaviour to her standards. But in a way isn't that exactly what the breastfeeding Mum in the playground was doing. She has no problem with her tots seeing her breastfeeding and therefore other mums don't have the option to object. Perhaps this is a situation where a Politcally Correct solution is called for. The breastfeeder was doing nothing wrong - but it would offend some people - good manners, and sensitivity towards the feelings of others would suggest that she found somewhere less provocative to feed her tot. After all life does not always need to be a moral battlefield.
