Observer Posted July 15, 2004 Posted July 15, 2004 Observer, that's two posts in a row you've referred to things getting right up your arse. It's not Freudian is it? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I note you left out 'slip' ...... Crikey, I've already been doing the soul searching/questioning of my inner me in the last day or two and now this??? I need another self help book... sigh..... but will I find it in Ottakers or Anne Summers? Help!
Cret Posted July 15, 2004 Author Posted July 15, 2004 Shame he only got £100 fine but some sort of justice is better than the normal (in my experience) feck all. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah it's better than nothing I suppose. There's also the slim chance that they already have 9 points on their license (being a real obnoxious w@nker driver & all that) so the 3 points they've got would get them a ban but I think the police would have mentioned it. I would have preferred to have been in court this morning over it too so I could basically stare right at them all the way through it but never mind. What a complete w@nker as well - they denied the whole thing for the last 7 months or so and even made up counter allegations about my mother's driving (about as sensible & safety conscious as anyone), then turn round the day before court and admit they did it. Time wasting prick! Hope their next turd is a hedgehog. Anyway, result. If them getting done makes them think twice about doing this to someone else then all's well that ends well.
Stavros Posted July 15, 2004 Posted July 15, 2004 I always find rear fog lights work well when someone is too close, flick them on and watch in the rear view mirror as the front of their car does a nose dive! I find this works even better if you accelerate at the point you see their car do a nose dive. Nothing is more embarrassing for them than being right up behind you one second and a couple of hundred yards behind you the next! Rear fog lights were invented for people that have idiots behind them, use them on people that keep main beam on etc. Just don't leave them on when you don't need them! Stav.
Uni Posted July 15, 2004 Posted July 15, 2004 I've always wished for a James Bond type "Caltrop dropping device" which drops lots of small steel stars which instantly burst your tyres on impact - obvisouly stopping the car behind if not killing them - muhahhaa CIA image
Uni Posted July 15, 2004 Posted July 15, 2004 Oh and I'd rather have someone with full beam on in my mirror than some foo! with rear fog light on in front - burning my retinas.
Cret Posted July 15, 2004 Author Posted July 15, 2004 Yeah, sadly there are plenty of berks that do leave them switched on and it's fecking annoying driving behind someone like that, as they tend to be the sort of driver that are oblivious to the fact that other people are on the roads as well as them. Sure you could have some fun with one of these in your back window when there's a d1ckhead driving behind you.....
Tearz Posted July 15, 2004 Posted July 15, 2004 Oh and I'd rather have someone with full beam on in my mirror than some foo! with rear fog light on in front - burning my retinas. Thats one of my pet hates! "My eyes!!"
Cret Posted July 15, 2004 Author Posted July 15, 2004 I've always wished for a James Bond type "Caltrop dropping device" which drops lots of small steel stars which instantly burst your tyres on impact <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Could probably make you one easily enough if you like....
Educa Posted July 15, 2004 Posted July 15, 2004 Yeah, I had an Audi TT tailgating me from the top of Richmond Hill right through to Onchan, the other week - only reason I didn't completely slow down was cos hubby probably would have got our of my car and smacked the one!!
Cret Posted July 15, 2004 Author Posted July 15, 2004 Audi TT? I wouldn't have put camp hairdressers down as the aggressive/inconsiderate driving types really.
Stavros Posted July 15, 2004 Posted July 15, 2004 Every day without a doubt believe it and it will come about. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Every day, and in every way, I am becoming better andbetter. I don't think it worked, apparently he committing suicide! Stav.
french Posted July 15, 2004 Posted July 15, 2004 This is my first post. I like to judge other drivers but know I drive stupidly sometimes as well, so I try to usually keep my opinion to myself (so as not to seem a complete hypocrite), but one thing does bug me enough to speak out about it. If I'm coming from the opposite direction, a car tries to overtake when they don't have enough space to get back into their lane, which means I need to slow down radically for them to squeeze back in the nick of time. I object to having to adjust my speed to avoid a head-on collision just because someone else has made a stupid error of judgement. This has happened often!
french Posted July 15, 2004 Posted July 15, 2004 Hello and welcome French. Thank you, this was a big deal for me, and typical that it was a big 'whinge' that broke my silence! Hopefully I'll have some more positive things to share in the future!
Cret Posted July 15, 2004 Author Posted July 15, 2004 Fret ye not French, for we all love a good whinge on here. I'm just pleased more than whinging at the moment because the prick in question here has now been done for his dangerous driving. And that makes me pleased. I agree with your one as well though. I like to be paranoid about overtaking things so that if there's not more than enough room I won't even consider it. I don't like taking chances.
