gingerbiscuit Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 Hey everyone, Have we heard of 'The Secret' that you want something, believe in it and then it becomes reality. What do you all think about the power of positive thinking - I find personally that if I think something positive the opposite happens! Do you think some people are just luckier than others or do we make our own luck? And hey own sensible people reply - dickheads keep away
Terse Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 ...dickheads keep away Quite right. It's enough having one start the thread.
gingerbiscuit Posted August 24, 2010 Author Posted August 24, 2010 But you read it and your opinion was very useful!!!! NOT - never mind. Take the first prize and be proud!
Bananaman Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 Hey everyone, Have we heard of 'The Secret' No. Go on tell me.
jimbms Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 Don't tell me the secret is to post a topic in a section that has fuck all to do with the drivel you have put down, since when was this books and writing?
Eloise Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 Have we heard of 'The Secret' that you want something, believe in it and then it becomes reality. It is a book and film. Bit self-help/spiritual for my liking though...
gingerbiscuit Posted August 25, 2010 Author Posted August 25, 2010 Hi Eloise, Yes it is - a bit repetitive the book. I haven't seen the film but caught a few snatches on youtube etc and it seems a bit OTT and hyped up! In the book they claim that all the famous people in bygone times have known the Secret (putting out positive thoughts that attract positive thoughts back therefore creating a good atmosphere and cycle of success. Also known as the law of attraction). I wonder had anyone practised this and had any good results to report back?

But they never quoted them in the book - but there's an opportunity for you to write a book in answer to them. No seriously the book suggests Leonardo Da Vinci, Shakespeare, Pythagoras, Newton, Beethoven to name a few. The power of positive thinking is effective but hard to practice 24/7 - after all we are only humans and full of selfdoubts. Aren't we?

You should read '59 Seconds' by Professor Richard Wiseman, a great take on self help books and techniques based on scientific research, that sort of blows out the 'positive thinking' theory, but throws in a lot of evidence based snippets. http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/0330511602/ref=s9_simh_gw_p14_i1?pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=0JBCSRXFMRP4ABJSTT3S&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=467128533&pf_rd_i=468294

M 2.0 Posted September 4, 2010 Posted September 4, 2010 The secret to being successful would appear to be to write a book telling other people how to become successful - you're bound to have a bestseller in no time... kerching!
