Nitro Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 My comments removed for accusing dave1978 of owning/running the site? Anyhoo the site is/was so promising its now forwarding straight to Manx radio!
pauld Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 "Adverts seen by 1,000s"...."The Whole Island Will See" There's nothing like a little false advertising and blatant bullshit to spoil the whole internet experience for ligitimate businesses. I'm sure you'll be a dot com millionaire by this time next year, how can you possibly fail with that combination of awesome design skillz and the way you spam links all over Manx Forums. Sometimes I really wish we could turn the internet off. Nice example of manx crab syndrome.
Kadabing Posted May 28, 2011 Posted May 28, 2011 Maybe it is just me, but I feel it looses any credibility by using a '.co.uk' domain.
Kadabing Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 Good, I'm glad it's just me. .im domains, who needs them. Not like they have anything to do with the Isle of Man at all.
The Old Git Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 Although you would have some trouble registereing any .im domain mentioning isleofman of manx without going through some approval hoops.
Kadabing Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 Actually I just quickly ran 'isleofmannews.im' and 'manxnews.im' through both nic.im's and also netcetera.co.uk's domain checker service. Both are available and from the latter it is purchasable for £4.95. The more you know, eh.
The Old Git Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 It's changed since I last tried to register an isleofman / manx .im domain then Is there any need to be snarky?
Kadabing Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 Nah not really, tends to be the general theme of this forum. However I don't think it really suits me, so I do apologise. However since they have relaxed the rules on people purchasing .im domain names, I fail to see why Manx people, companies and organisations; use .co.uk domains.
The Old Git Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 It's one of my little peeves. I look at a manxcompany.co.uk or manxorganisation.co.uk URL and just think "Why?"
Albert Tatlock Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 It's one of my little peeves. I look at a manxcompany.co.uk or manxorganisation.co.uk URL and just think "Why?" Because 56% (last census, and prob 60% next census) of people living here weren't born here?
The Old Git Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 But presumably a Manx company was "born" here? Anyway, as I said, it's just a little peeve of mine
Domino Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 Maybe an occasional 'searcher' on the web would consider: .com - a main runner .co.uk - a smaller outfit .im - WTF A marketing boffin would probably know the answer
