.. and a Brit wins a medal and everyone else gets an interview apart from the BBC .. who didn't seem to listening to their own output and broadcast a full 20 mins of background noise.

..also Highlights on iplayer - all they could manage to get as guests to review the Mens Cycling on British TV was Dame Kelly and two Yanks. None of which had a clue what they were talking about.

BBC - quality - NOT. At least they are being consistent.

After reading todays press reports on yesterdays cycling disaster for the GB team, I was very surprised to read that the Australian team had no intention contesting the race, which makes you wonder why the bothered sending a cycling team in the fitst place?

BBC's coverage of the cycling has been pisspoor. At least today Boardman thought to time the gaps himself. Porter (who's usually one of their better commentators) is identifying the wrong riders, vital information like time gaps are missing, and called the sprint for the first in the peloton the race for fourth when twenty riders had been clear for over an hour. Is cycling the only thing ITV do better than BBC.

Yeah, not good compared to the big races like the TDF, but it's common if you watch any of the smaller races. Worse though when it impacts the outcome of the race, the bunch not knowing who's in the break or where it is up the road. Some might say that's a bit more like cycling should be, the riders more on their own rather than being fed info from their DS's. Not sure myself.

Women's cycling is very different form men's isn't it?

Can be. Can also be very dull as there's a couple of very dominant riders on pro teams and a lot of amateurs who just ride for clubs who never stand a chance. Today's race was superb though.

Looking forward to the track programme. Hope the Hoy decision was correct.

What a Day 2 swimming finals session! 2 World Records, medal for Rebecca, super semis swim for Tancock - he really worked the last 25m, couple of other Team GB's through, and a great 4x100 free relay final (including a 46.7 split from Agnel) Vive La France!

i didn't see the mens race at all as I was at work but I followed it on the radio. I did see the womens race in its entirety. It was a good sporting spectacle overall, despite the weather. Glad to see so many fans out in force.

I've watched some of the swimming too, the rowing, volleyball (both varients), football, archery, handball, gymnastics, the syncro diving, tennis & basketball. I attempted to watch the water polo but by f00k, that's one dull sport! I missed the hockey as there was too much else going on but I will try and catch some of that this week if possible.

Looking forward to the rowing finals as GB should do well there and obviously looking forward to the start of the track and field events, als the time trials in the cycling.

How do you mean, as in terms of his selection? Is he a bit iffy for a medal then?

Nail biting finish in prospect for the men's team gymnastics final. Team GB in with a shot at bronze!

On now on BBC3

Amazing how you can get so worked up that we've overhauled Ukraine to get bronze - everyone's over the moon. The Japan screw up and suddenly it's silver. Finally back to bronze on appeal and 'we wuz robbed'. All in the space of about 5 minutes.

That's the thing about subjective sports, and why I generally like them less than ones where whoever finishes first/throws furthest/jumps highest wins.

ETA - typo. My slight OCD playing up again.

3-0 up in the hockey so far. Got table tennis on pip in the corner of the screen too.

No medals in the pool for GB so far tonight, oh well.

No but enjoyable races nonetheless.

Another gold for France in the Mens 200 free - interesting to see Lochte's usual underwater phase off the turns neutralised; a really impressive swim from the giant Greavers in the 100 back and then the (obligatory Caddyshack reference) Cinderella story of Meilutyte in the Womens 100 breast. Spurious Manx reference, Isle of Man swimmer Grant Halsall is also a Plymouth team member.

The 200 fly is looking interesting. I've been keeping an eye on Phelps stroke count in the heats and semis and he's been going 20/21 in the second half of the race - 19 or 20 is more usual for him. I think there's a chance of an upset.

You've got to feel sorry for Tom Daley, for years he's been the symbol of young Olympic hope. Then a 4th year wins gold, and you're not even top Olympian in your school.

Does than not come from the culture of putting sports personalities on pedastals, only for them to get trounced by some other young hopeful that spends more time training than promoting Head and Shoulders?
