"Israel's wrath"

Still waiting for this against Iran.  Seemed a very lack luster response as I was expecting full fire and brimstone.  There must be more to it.

Might be something to do with Iran having a standing force capable of fighting back with armour, artillery and airforce.

Granted not the same number or quality of the IDF but enough that the IDF would get severally bloodied doing so,

Bit different to using tanks against civilians and sniper shooting kids.

From reports it seems very well targeted, has taken out much of Iran's (Russian built) air defences and apparently a rocket fuel place.

Which raises several questions including obviously how are they so good at targeting in Iran but remarkably less so elsewhere? We know they don't target hospitals or schools, they said so many times. Nearly as many times as hospitals and schools have been bombed.

In anywhere but Palestine/Gaza those targets are pretty obvious and not in the middle of cities, hidden amongst civilians, disguised as hospitals etc.

The US were trying to get Israel to undertake a 'chilled' response.  But recent events would seem to suggest that Israel is laughing at most of these warnings issued.  So why did they in this instance?

They've undertaken larger and more ruthless hits against Iran in the past.

Airforce is the only relevant bit.  They have Iraq, Jordan and Syria in the way for any land forces to get to Israel.  That's why they used Hez & Ham.

Forbes has got some surprisingly informative war info nowadays actually.  I always thought it was purely business stuff.

See also the Financial Times (this site has an inconsistent paywall)

If people are able they should very much read this long piece

There's not much functional difference between air defenses that don't exist and air defenses that can be blown up with strikes from planes.

If it's true that they've destroyed a bunch of S300s (which I'm not wholly convinced it is), Russia must be feeling fairly nervous that S300s seem completely ineffective against F35s.

Did the F35s go anywhere near Iran? I'd assumed it was all stand off air to ground missiles.

Reports I'd read were F35s. Air defences that are in range of another countries surface launched missiles may as well not exist, too.

I thought just air launched missiles from Israeli jets in Iraqi airspace. But just looked into it. Seems the F35s likely did enter Iranian airspace. Impressive. Although unsurprising the Russian SAM tech claims were bullshit.

Quite. Moscow always puffs up the effectiveness of it's weaponry. The T-90M MBT being a good case in point. Plus it helps sales making Russia the second biggest exporter of armaments behind the US.

Mind you it's exports have slumped recently. Probably because it needs everything it makes to replace losses in Ukraine...
