There's no 'vile intent'.  Society has changed. It was once considered OK to stereotype women as bimbos that could only be expected to hold a brolly and be eye candy.  That's wrong, surely? Girls repeatedly see images that sell that version of what women can be, and some end up aspiring to it. Free to choose? No, I don't think so. Conditioned.

Claire Williams is effectively team principal at Williams, and there are many women science and technology people working behind the scenes in F1 teams.

As for seeing why 'big ugly women may object' that's just antediluvian. If you aren't careful your knuckles will be dragging  on the floor!

I'm not offended by grid girls, by the way.  Just embarrassed as a man that the tradition still exists.

A very childish remark and not like you at all. Which nerve was hit there.

Nearly all fans of fast car racing and bike racing are red blooded males. Most red blooded males enjoy and appreciate good looking women So WTAF is wrong with have good looking women involved either in promotion of the sport or glamming it up.

Share your views with American football fans and see how many friends you make.

Unlike you, It's because I'm a man that I enjoy seeing the pit lane girls and don't see any reason not to.

Probably best to leave it there, Dilligaf. Others can judge which was the childish remark.

At least I know how I'd like women to look. Not too sure about you.

Got to say, i'm still struggling to equate your pit girl/ballboy analogy dilli.

Ball boy?  I mentioned football mascots.

Anyway my point was that the PC brigade don't seem to have the same outlook for all sports or ways of life.

Who exactly is the "PC brigade" you seem so afraid of?

At least you know that, Dilli, agreed.

Funnily enough, I feel much more positive about American Football cheerleaders. They put on a skillful,  well rehearsed display as well as looking gorgeous. Grid-girls just stand there  doing nothing except dsplaying their bods and smiling, and applauding on demand when required.

Do you think I HAVE to be red-blooded enough to appreciate the grid-girlls because I do actually enjoy Motorsport and have been going for a long time? It’s odd that I seem to see quite a lot of women and families in the crowd, and as for  sexual orientation, who knows? There might even be gays in the crowd..
