Thanks everyone for the advice, and fuck LC for the insult, cheeky BASTARD I'm in my seventies, trashing places is not my scene, cheers guys.

Ah ok, sorry, fair enough. If it's a good old fashioned, old skool rant in the corner, perhaps with an edge of exaggerated deafness to maximise audience reach, I'd opt for a Travelodge. And get a Wiltshire Farm Foods delivered to your room. Keep the food miles down!

You couldn't rip the back out of a crisp packet.

There's a Premier Inn or Days Inn at almost every motorway intersection or services these days.  Quick Google, take your pick.

That's true and they're OK if you're stuck, but they are SO samey. If you do them too often you wake up thinking "Where am I?" I appreciate some on here probably do that every day anyhow.

Absolutely. But for somewhere dependable to get your head down on a journey with minimal deviation from your route, they are dependable and generally pretty good value. Obviously, unless you are Alan Partridge, you wouldn't go for a romantic weekend ....

So much to choose from,I'll drive four about 4hrs and see where I'm at,I shall have to smuggle the mutt in somehow too,but as I said no rush a pleasant drive I hope.

Accor group ( IBIS, NOVOTEL etc ) are pet friendly, as are Days Inn and 100+ Best Western. Travel Lodges also, but not Premier Inn. Shouldn't need to smuggle.
