La Colombe Posted July 4, 2017 Posted July 4, 2017 Spoiler for anyone wanting to watch highlights.... Peter Sagan disqualified and Cav out! I don't know much about cycling, but it looked like a pretty bad crash to me. Shame for both riders really. Moment of madness.
quilp Posted July 4, 2017 Posted July 4, 2017 Ouch! Heavy shit man. Just over the dreaded glandular fever too, so he is. Bummer. Hopefully he'll be Head and Shoulders above the rest again.
Mr. Sausages Posted July 4, 2017 Posted July 4, 2017 Shame for the tour - two of the biggest names out. It looked really bad but I'm not sure Sagan knew he was there.
Neil Down Posted July 4, 2017 Posted July 4, 2017 Just watched the highlights and looks like the punishment was way over the top. Initial punishment should have stood
notwell Posted July 4, 2017 Posted July 4, 2017 Looked very naughty to me. I know it's not a tickling contest in those sprints but that was dangerous.
quilp Posted July 4, 2017 Posted July 4, 2017 Sagan's elbow definitely extended at a crucial moment. View it in slo-mo. As Cav wasn't the only casualty, surely the resulting mayhem definitely warranted the disqualification?
Neil Down Posted July 4, 2017 Posted July 4, 2017 If they are disqualifying Sagan for the reasons they gave then they should also be disqualifying Demare for running into Bouhanni.

Rhumsaa Posted July 4, 2017 Posted July 4, 2017 That sort of nudge happens most sprints, just this time the results were catastrophic
Neil Down Posted July 4, 2017 Posted July 4, 2017 Sagan's team are appealing. Fingers crossed it gets overturned
quilp Posted July 4, 2017 Posted July 4, 2017 Gripping stuff all the same. Never really watched cycling proper before. Those lads must have the stamina of marathon runners. Halfway up the Lhergy Cripperty and that's me.
Shake me up Judy Posted July 5, 2017 Posted July 5, 2017 Cycling can be a magnificent sport but it's also a dirty one and it can be a real roughhouse in the sprints. Mark's always been an aggressive rider and has dished it out plenty of times in the bearpit of the sprint. This is what happens and it could easily have been the other way round. Fairness doesn't much enter into it.
