La Colombe Posted June 5, 2018 Posted June 5, 2018 Ooh, only ten days to go till it all kicks off! So exciting. I think we might do it this time! Here's a handy link to all the Group Stage matches to whet everyone's appetites! Some crackers in there!
the stinking enigma Posted June 6, 2018 Posted June 6, 2018 Bad news for anyone with any argentina players in their sun or daily mail world cup dream teams. Still, it's good to see at least one team take an anti-apartheid stance in this age of lip service https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-44378669
Mr. Sausages Posted June 8, 2018 Posted June 8, 2018 At least Gareth's old mate david beckham has taken the pressure off. Getting his kids teacher up the duff on the eve of the World Cup tops that goal against Greece.

The Old Git Posted June 9, 2018 Posted June 9, 2018 It’s a pity the island isn’t allowed in. It could be good fun for the short time it lasts.
TheTeapot Posted June 9, 2018 Posted June 9, 2018 This should have been in the other thread. The Island team have been kicked out of CONIFA following a bit of a kerfuffle. They lost to the hosts who fielded an ineligible player and complained, as they should have, but the complaint was rejected and things went wrong from there. The manx haven't handled it very well. http://www.conifa.org/en/members/ellan-vannin/
The Old Git Posted June 9, 2018 Posted June 9, 2018 It would be good if they could compete in the World Cup like Gibraltar can.
Mr. Sausages Posted June 13, 2018 Posted June 13, 2018 2026 world cup to be in Mexico, USA, and Canada. Those soccerballers had better be good at climbing walls. In other news, Spain have sacked their manager.
P.K. Posted June 14, 2018 Posted June 14, 2018 Personally I thought Englands approach was a bit "sloppy" for want of a better word. The players need to apply thenselves to the task in hand. After all, it is The Baggy Greens and they always have a decent pace attack. Next ODI is Saturday. Should be good.
the stinking enigma Posted June 14, 2018 Posted June 14, 2018 After hearing the world cup firework display described on radio 4 this morning as "putin showing off" i can see how the commentary on this world cup is going to go
the stinking enigma Posted June 14, 2018 Posted June 14, 2018 Look forward to martin tyler giving a monologue on human rights as england pass it about cluelessly in midfield.

IMHO they are more an add-on to Test Matches than anything else. A Test being, of course, the pinnacle in a professional cricketers career. Have you ever been to an ODI and T20? I personally think there is room for all three formats and I enjoy all of them. Mind you, a Roses T20 doesn't do my liver any good at all. A top evening out mind....
the stinking enigma Posted June 14, 2018 Posted June 14, 2018 I've been to a couple of odi's. Absolute piss up.
