WTF Posted September 25, 2018 Posted September 25, 2018 dogs have to be under control, not on leads, if you were in the must be on leads camp doc, you just lost. many people think under control means on a lead ( would help with some kids too ) but not the case i'm sorry to say, too many MHK's and MLC's have dogs they don't walk on leads.
John Wright Posted September 25, 2018 Posted September 25, 2018 As a dog owner I’m not sure how you can actually claim your dog is under control if it’s not on a lead. As a lawyer I’m not sure the “it’s never not returned on my command before” defence will work.
doc.fixit Posted September 25, 2018 Author Posted September 25, 2018 not in any camp, it's just to settle an argument.......which I explained in my first post...............

Never had any of my dogs on leads, always have them under my control though. do you think that all sheepdogs are out of control when they running around the countryside rounding up sheep to whistled instructions?

No, they’re working dogs. Very specially trained. And they aren’t worked, generally, in public places, promenades, pavements in town, where they’ll encounter hundreds of people, strange and unexpected noises other dogs, cars, etc. You think your dogs are under control, but if they’re spooked, by another dog, a loud bang...

Nah, they’re all born knowing exactly what your whistles, crook signals and calls mean. Its just other farmers who have to train, themselves, for years so they can learn the commands their collie has inbred responses to.
