Pete Brady Posted April 9, 2020 Posted April 9, 2020 I do a little bit of wood turning in my spare time and was thinking of expanding this a little to include turning some pieces with epoxy resin added. Does anyone know where I might be able to purchase some on the island?....I have looked at Amazon but understandably can't seem to find a supplier who delivers......

B&Q, butmaybe not on the list of essentials for “click and collect”.
quilp Posted April 9, 2020 Posted April 9, 2020 Phoning the IoM arts Council or whatever they're called these days may produce a result. Maybe email the art dept at the college?
Pete Brady Posted April 10, 2020 Author Posted April 10, 2020 Thank you both for your replies.....I will give them both a try when things are a little better.
quilp Posted April 10, 2020 Posted April 10, 2020 I know a few 'arty types' so I'll get on it and see if I can point you in the right direction.
quilp Posted April 10, 2020 Posted April 10, 2020 OK, locally you can buy all you need, including pigments and the resin itself from Bottomlinemarine down in Middle River. Ring Dean Bolton on 671671. Sorted, I hope...
TheDruid-3X3 Posted April 11, 2020 Posted April 11, 2020 The Best Epoxy Resin I have ever known is JB Weld Epoxy Resin which is nick named 'Liquid Steel'. Used it at my New Job to repair some Steel Frame Chairs whose Welds had Broken. 3X3
quilp Posted April 11, 2020 Posted April 11, 2020 The OP wants to do some arty stuff with it rather than fix summat.
Pete Brady Posted April 15, 2020 Author Posted April 15, 2020 Quilp.......Thank you so much for the great information given.....I will give the chap a ring. Really appreciate your help in this matter....Regards....Pete
WTF Posted April 17, 2020 Posted April 17, 2020 you need the right sort of epoxy resin, the thin clear stuff used in resin castings that lets the air bubbles float to the top, the stuff used on boats and car bodies might be a little too viscous to allow the results you will be looking for.
Katman Posted April 20, 2020 Posted April 20, 2020 I've bought casting resin kits from Amazon and had them deliveredto the Island no problem. This is the one I got: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0761VRW12/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Pete Brady Posted April 22, 2020 Author Posted April 22, 2020 WTF.....thanks for that.....Katman....that's exactly what I'm looking for.....thanks for the link really appreciate it.

There a couple of firms over here that do epoxy flooring/work tops. Thinking of arty wood stuff and seeing what they do, I would imagine it's the exact type of epoxy. They'll have pigment etc also.
Jaz Posted June 5, 2020 Posted June 5, 2020 Hi Pete, Did you order from the link that Katman sent? it says in the small print they don’t deliver over seas... If not, where did you end up sourcing from? I’m looking for epoxy resin myself :-)
