Can you imagine that ever happening? No. Me neither.

Yes, I can.  Apparently the UK was an attractive destination pre-Brexit when the UK could easily have returned people to the EU.  Post Brexit when that is much harder why would people not want to get to the UK?

No they couldn't, not practically, and no they didn't. It's a desperate argument that holds no water.

I am not making any desperate argument.  The UK Government just never really tried to send people back.  That was a choice they made.

Neo-nazi scum attacks asylum seeker, who is a fan of Tommy Ten-Names, Nigel "I spread misinformation on the internet but take no responsibility for it" Farage and Suella Braverman, who travelled 4 hours to attack someone - "doing his bit for England".

I wonder which event which cause a massive spike in anti-asylum seeker rhetoric and hatred this could be linked to?

Especially as during the Brexit campaign a certain misinformation spreader stood in front of a certain "Breaking Point" poster.

Yep,

Just your average Brexiteer it appears

Nobody said anything about an "average" Brexiteer.

However:

"The lengthy tirade ended with Parslow voicing hope that his attack would be the “snowflake that started the avalanche”, before issuing a call to arms to “fellow Englishmen” and urging them to “become warriors … become Albion’s vengeance”.

Does sound very similar to a lot of language used by prominent Brexiteers, Leavers, Anti-EU, etc personalities (including certain "Breaking Point" MPs.

Doesn’t sound very similar language to me.

Producing, or standing in front of an offensive, and yes abhorrent poster as horrible as it is, hardly invites comparison with an anti Jewish, homophobic person who attempted murder.

From the Guardian

“The document  [Parslows manifesto]railed against Jewish people, Marxists and “globalists” – blaming them for everything from migration to falling living standards – as well as “queer indoctrination”, and “[the] demonising [of] masculinity, meat consumption, Christianity, white people and all European culture”.

As the weeks counted down to his attack, he glorified Hitler, posted a selfie performing a Nazi salute and called Jews and non-whites “animals”

Woolley offered you some good advice, to stop digging. Suggest you follow it

Strange, because Brexiteers made a career (and a lot of money) out blaming immigrants for exactly the same things.

But then I don't expect Brexit faithful to be able to see the very clear parallels in the language.

Yes Brexit supporters made a whole load of money from demonising meat consumption 😀

Where’s my share of that? Checked my bank statement. Can’t find it.

OK I’m resurrecting this thread after a few days.

Watching “ Death Trip” by Cockney Rebel “ on You Tube. Given that it is an 11 minute stirring  anthem I assume the You Tube algorithm directed me to “ Land of Hope and Glory” as performed in Last Night of the Proms at the Albert Hall.

I watched it and that too is a stirring anthem, indeed promoting Britain as a land of hope and glory. No doubt other countries have similar anthems to proclaim how good they are.

What did annoy me was the presence of a lot of people waving the EU flag with the gold stars.

Whats that all about? The UK left the EU 8 years ago.

Would you wave a Union Flag in Paris on Bastille Day when the French are celebrating.

Those waving the EU flag think they are being clever but they are just stupid.
If they want to wave the EU flag do it in the EU

One suspects the composer would have found your jingoistic interpretation of the composition and annoyance at the performance rather vulgar and a bit silly.

I appreciate you're probably trolling the diehards, but it doesn't matter. The oddest thing I ever saw in there was an Irish tricolour waving enthusiastically at all the British traditional tunes. No objection to it, but I did wonder what Pearse and Collins might have made of such a spectacle.
