I've been to the last two FC Isle of Man games. It's an alright set up they've got there. Atmosphere is a bit odd, not quite as good as normal football in England but I suppose it will get there. Quite enjoyed it.

They could do with some more facilities in the Bowl as it's pretty scarce and it's food trucks in the car park/no clubhouse for a pint.

Interesting one I hadn't thought about though was one of the Rocester fans said they were  missing some of their best players because of the IOM covid regs.

What do you mean 'normal football in England'?

No doubt food and beer outlets will be improved once they can confirm demand, but signs are all promising.

Have you been to a game in England?

Yes, I've watched football in premier ship, championship, div 1, div 2, conference and many leagues below that as well.

People won't invest in the Ravens as A) it might be a flash in the pan b) its not Liverpool or Everton (FYI i know there are more teams i''m being sarcastic).

Any atmosphere will take a few years to get going, what you need is a bunch of young people to create an Ultras section like this and it will grow.

Don't get the saltiness myself. Where is the pride in getting behind a local side who are branching out into the wider world and giving a platform for the some of our talented youngsters to hopefully get noticed and move up the ladder? Who wants to be playing against the same people at the same level season after season, where's the excitement in that?

FC Isle of Man have got a write up on The Athletic today.

The Geordies don't give a toss as long as the owners spend a lot of money on players.  I haven't seen one Newcastle fan protest against their new owners and I doubt they will unless the wheels come off and no money is spent on players.

They are all just relieved to be rid of Mike Ashley, who ironically, ran the club in a financially responsible manner which is going to allow the new owners the opportunity to spend money.

Any chance of a cut n paste? It's behind a paywall.

Won’t get bar or club house as they don’t own the bowl they rent it like everyone else.

they said they would be offering opportunities to young players.  What are they doing for under 18s etc….can’t say it’s about youth when you have chris bass jnr playing etc.

im still waiting to be convinced

That's a brilliant video, and exactly what could happen.

I watched Robbie Savage Macclesfield FC last night, and it gives you some idea of the investment required as they are in the league above IOM.  https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/59179227

Accrington, who are a decent Div 1 team survive on gates of around 2,500 so it can be done.

OK Girding my loins to be told it’s none of my business. But I am curious.

I note that FC Isle of Mans next game is to be sponsored by Beach Buddies.

What exactly does that involve?

Are BB paying over money to the football club ( as the term “sponsorship “ implies)? Or what?

I thought you had to pay to be a match sponsor.  Maybe they have not got enough people willing to pay so they have started giving visibility to local charities which is a good thing.  I can’t imagine they would be asking a charity to pay

My thoughts exactly.

It’s quite common to give charities sponsorship slots - especially if your trying to build a connection between the club and the community.

Again, if you want to know the details go and ask Beach Buddies.  Why do you think anyone on here would know the answer?  And if you were supplied with one why would you believe it from an anonymous source?

As Declan has said it is not unusual for clubs to give charities, particularly local ones, some promotion opportunities for free.
