Anyway getting back to the original topic, the funding of Isle of Man FC

It is something I and my friends have mused upon whilst having a beer in the pub. It’s what you do,like talking about the takeover of Newcastle United (not that there are any similarities, just football talk)

So why is it taboo and not a legitimate discussion for Manx Forums?

It's not taboo, and on the basis it's easy enough to Google flights to/from the island, hotel costs on the island (and some away for FCIOM?), coach trips from Liverpool to away games, etc it's highly likely that the sponsors were significant to help the club tick over when all games were initially played away from home and there was no 'income' from home gates.

As home games start to bring in income (10k attended 6 games so far) the reliance on sponsors reduces and costs are covered from gate/ticket sales.

Pretty sure that upon their application to the North West Counties League, FCIOM would have had to put forward a business plan to show how it works financially.

Most important now, that people support the team through the gate.

Relevant to who other than you?

Relevant to a supporter of a club (in this case FCIOM), because it's what is discussed on Football Forums of clubs established much longer than The Ravens.

Won’t get bar or club house as they don’t own the bowl they rent it like everyone else.

they said they would be offering opportunities to young players.  What are they doing for under 18s etc….can’t say it’s about youth when you have chris bass jnr playing etc.

im still waiting to be convinced

Charlie Higgins, Sam Baines, Adam Cooil, Nathan Cardy, Jacob Crook, Jack Camarda, Taylor Andrews, Scott Horne - all of them given opportunities and all very much help reduce the average age when experienced players like Chris Bass Jnr plays.

It's cringey as fuck at the games.  Think people who've rarely been to a footy match who think that calling The Bowl the Bernabowl is hilarious.  It's a bit embarrasing really, which is a shame as it's a brilliant idea and great for manx footballers.

I'll keep watching occasionally and I wish the people behind it and the lads playing all the best.  I think some of the 'supporters' need to get a bit of perspective though.

Not been to a game as yet. Contemplating going for the New year bank holiday game on the 3rd January. Only reservation I have is availability of parking due to size of crowd.

Be grateful for any observations

Parking will be fine at Bowl, certainly if you arrive in good time

Call that Dial-a-Ride thingy of which you're so fond.

Went to the game this afternoon. Most enjoyable.

Only slight irritation was that I bought an e ticket and got into the stadium.

Before the match started I though I would buy a programme so approached a chap with a number of them in his hands ( a seller I presumed) with some cash and asked to purchase one.

He said I would have to go back to the ticket office and pre purchase one there on a card ( credit I presume) As it was close to kick off there was a big queue at the ticket office so didn’t bother.
Not a big issue but maybe someone at the club could take note and publicly advise of the way programme purchases work so they don’t lose out on revenue.

This is a constructive comment so would be grateful if people could refrain from snide,or what they think are clever, comments

Very enjoyable night last night. Bigger crowd than League 2 fixture isn't to be sniffed at.

West Didsbury showed how you can create an atmosphere without stupid drums and air horns.

Giving kids something to aspire to and should be applauded, hopefully this is the start of something great for the island.

I'll pass along the feedback. Typically the queue to buy a program at the main gate (Pulrose Bridge end of the ground) is no more than a couple of minutes at most (and even then, that's really only for the 20 minutes prior to the game starting) but it can always be better!

1800 attendance today. Finished second in the league and play off for promotion at home next week. Saw that biff Josem today too with his “head steward” bib on. 🙄
