Sea fishing in Douglas

Hi

I am coming to Douglas next Friday 3 December and was wondering if there are any good sea fishing marks in the town and also if the winter fishing is any good.
Thanks in advance

There's a couple of groups on FB.

Certainly you used to be able to fish from the Douglas Harbour Piers.  Not sure if that's still the case with the Ferries etc.

Alternatively the rocks at Onchan Head.  Or most of the other towns/villages that have piers are definitely accessible.  Hightide usually your best bet at most of these.

You'd be lucky to get on the Victoria Pier these days, I think it's for local angling club comps only. Battery pier is useless during the day, ok at night for Dogfish, Coalfish (known locally as 'shitties') Pollack (kla Callig) a very occasional Codling and bothersome baby Whiting. Some Conger too, off the end wall. To reach the rocks around the back of the lighthouse can be quite a descent and climb to find the best spots, good for all of the above.

Laxey rocks are ok but I've only fished in summer.

Blue Point and other northern beaches can produce some nice enough Bass and flatfish on Peeler and Lug.

Peel is much the same as Douglas, possibly more productive but eating catch from there is a bit dodgy given that raw sewage is constantly pumped into the bay.

2 hours before full tide seems to be a good time around the Island.

As was said, farcebook will tell you more.

Be good if you post whether you catch 'owt.

Hopefully not covid...
