Max Power Posted December 17, 2021 Posted December 17, 2021 One of the issues here is that no politicians were involved in the 'cheese and wine' party in Downing Street, they were all civil servants! If Johnson hadn't tried to defend them, he probably could have just sacked the lot of them and got on with life. He wouldn't be expected to know what was going on in every part of number ten, it is after all a place where a lot of people work, he lives in a small part of the house. Quote

The problems are really all of Johnson's own making. If he had not tried to find a way to stop the suspension of Owen Patterson for 30 days there would have been no bi-election and the public would probably barely have noticed the matter. The "parties" were not great but they would have quickly been moved on from if he has simply apologised and thrown a few under a bus as he usually does but as is often the case he chose just to lie. Continually stating there was no party when everybody, including Ant & DEC, knew the opposite was what kept the matter running. Now it appears the civil servant who was appointed to investigate the matter may have had his own parties so the cycle will start all over again. 1 1 Quote
Zarley Posted December 18, 2021 Posted December 18, 2021 At first glance I thought that was Howard Shipman stood next to #LiarJohnson. I've clearly been looking too much at @ColdWarSteve's artwork. 1 Quote

When a PM and his government fuck up and lie about it to the extent that the PM has to stand down, it's not good enough for him/her to be replaced by a cabinet member. They should have to call a GE. 2 Quote

Quite. He was elected, as the hollow soundbite goes, to "Get Brexit Done".... As a totally amoral narcissistic serial philanderer and inveterate liar he was the perfect choice to knowingly seriously damage the prospects of the entire country and it's people for personal gain.... 1 Quote
