This guy was actually PM! This is from his upcoming memoirs. Whatever you think of Johnson I’m sure they will be an interesting read. As will Diane Abbot’s book “ A woman like me” . I’ve put them both on my Christmas list and look forward to reading them both. Quote

Yes, I know but if that is true then it's absolutely insane. To have even considered such an operation against a NATO ally is totally off the scale. Johnson's memoirs will undoubtedly be a pack of lies or at best a rewriting of history to his benefit. The fact that you are willing to part with money for it just totally sums you up. (Or ask someone else to part with money for it on your behalf). Abbot's book maybe a worthy read as she was the first and longest serving black woman in Parliament. It still won't be on my wishlist though. Quote

I’ll read both books and make my own mind up. You may not like either author but they’ve lived interesting lives and have tales to tell. I enjoy political autobiographies and biographies. Tony Benns diaries are a particular joy to read I am not a Manchester United supporter but enjoyed Alex Ferguson autobiographical books. They give an insight into the man, and the changing environments over the decades in which he worked, not least because of all the anecdotes contained therein. Open your mind. manxman1980 Posted September 28, 2024 Posted September 28, 2024 @The Voice of Reason The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it. Quote

Like him or loathe him there is no doubt he has been an influential person in British political life of late. I would like to hear his version of certain events COVID, Brexit etc and his opinions of political colleagues, including the likes of Dominic Cummings etc. I think it will be interesting to hear these things from the horses mouth, so to speak. I enjoy reading most political autobiographies from people of all different persuasions. You may not. I’m not going to try and persuade you to buy the book if it’s not for you. Anyway you seem to have made your mind up before it’s even been published that it will be a pack of lies. That’s your prerogative. Quote
manxman1980 Posted September 29, 2024 Posted September 29, 2024 @The Voice of Reason did you not listen to his testimony during the COVID enquiry? Where he was actually obliged to tell the truth. I would suggest you would gain more from that than a book where he will not be challenged on any of his lies. I am not stopping you from reading it. I would suggest borrow it from a library instead of giving him more money. 1 1 Quote

You don't need to read a book to find that out Quote

We’re talking about a book for Gods sake. What do you want? A public book burning session? A fatwa issued? Let those who want to buy or read it do so. And those who don’t not. Quote
manxman1980 Posted September 29, 2024 Posted September 29, 2024 @The Voice of Reason it's not about stopping you reading that book. It's about your belief that you will somehow learn something from it. Johnson is a proven liar, he stood in Parliament and lied about, he has had god knows how many affairs and lied to partners. He lied as a journalist, the fabled bendy banana story. I appreciate that he will be one of your Brexit heroes but he even made a hash of that. He said there would be no border in the Irish Sea and yet Northern Ireland still operates to EU Regulations. It might not be a border in the traditional sense but once again he lied about that too. 1 Quote
