It would be a tragedy if England were to lose Southgate as their manager. Neither he nor his players could have done any better.

He and the England squad have conducted themselves with dignity and decorum ( c/f the Argentinian party).

And as an Englishman I am proud of them.( I know pride in your country is largely derided these days.)

There is no one better out there to replace him

Winning not an option for you then…

It would have been welcome.

Perhaps the managers of the 31 teams in the competition who won’t win the tournament should all resign en masse as they are obviously not up to the job.

There are only winners - nobody remembers who lost…

I hold my hands up, I was one of those that moaned about the world cup being in the winter. I have loved it been a great tournament. Hopefully the greatest player of all time Leo Messi gets his world cup win on Sunday

It has been a great footballing tournament. But you still can’t ignore the surrounding circumstances.

Speaking of which.I have seen a lot of the games but not all.

Of those I have seen England have been the only team “ taking the knee” before kick off.
Does that mean they are the only non racist team in the competition or the only ones desperate enough to demonstrate their non racist credentials?

No, England are the only spineless team in the competition
