The earth is at great risk of becoming unsustainable for humanity, this is no doubt unfathomable for a dull thicko like yourself but thankfully some of us do get it and if some publicity stunts help a few others look into the science then it's all good.

Can I ask, and I'm not really looking for links I'm after something more personal, what brought you to conclude this?

What were your major influences, what evidence swayed you, what books, individuals, or organisations persuaded you this is the case.

Just a gut feeling after watching a couple of whacko YouTube channels.

Knowingly pumping shit into our drinking water as a water company exec: no jail time

Being a TV presenter who's a nonce: no jail time

Actions that cause someone to have to wipe a bit of plexiglass with a cloth: 2 years jail time

Clown country.

I’d say third example ( however less innocent you want to make criminal damage appear by your description thereof) is about right.

The first two examples, most people I imagine ( myself included) would say are unduly lenient.

But each case should be considered in isolation and the facts of the case. Not by comparison to sentences handed down in very different types of criminal acts.

An apparent injustice by way of  a lenient sentence for one breach of the law, doesn’t mean there should also be an injustice in sentencing for another.

It's a bit like how we behaved during WW1, we shot people at dawn as an example to anyone else who was thinking of deserting or having shell shock, guilty or not. Like the 'far right' rioters, or social media pillocks who thought our free speech laws would protect them, it's an attempt to stop hordes of loonies doing the same thing and not really a reflection of the actual level of impact! If everyone suddenly thought there were no consequences for their actions, there could be anarchy all round.

Most people behave well because they're decent people, not because of the consequences.

Most people yes, but if 10% were not decent people, you could have 6,700,000 running amok in the UK. It only took 8,000 Normans to subdue England!

But why don’t the Just Stop Oil rent a mob behave well ?

The answer is because they are not decent people and intent  on causing inconvenience and much worse to their fellow citizens because they have some sort of bee in their bonnet.

Because they think what the Government is doing is condemning the planet, and they think a little bit of soup on some plexiglass is probably not as bad as that.
