I did, nobody listened.  All got sucked in by the green nonsense and used to drive their cars to the grandstand with a few newspapers in the boot to throw in a big plastic bin that came here on a boat, thinking that shipping the paper back to the UK by van, ferry and lorry to go into a hugely power hungry recycling plant with diesel vehicles everywhere was saving the world.

madness

That’s conflating recycling with carbon emissions/footprint. Two related but nonetheless separate issues.

I don’t think it’s quite as clear cut as a number of posters think it is.

Does this mean Douglas residents now get an extra collection now that the whole IOM recycling thing has been exposed to be a load of absolute bollocks?

No, because it only affects bring banks not kerb side collections. Apart from that, paper is only a small part of my recycling anyway, mostly it is cardboard packaging, cans and plastic

I thought Douglas ships it across with the recycle collect stuff?  Still find it baffling that shipping stuff all over the UK is in any way green.

Glass goes to Peel to be made into aggregate for building materials is correct, what they do not say is that the process used requires a loading shovel and 3 very large diesel engines driving a crusher and  2 screeners which in my book is not very green! I know this for a fact as I have seen it operating.
