Happier diner Posted December 3, 2024 Posted December 3, 2024 (edited) Been going here on and off for a few years. Always been OK but some how a bit so so. However been a couple of times recently with colleagues from work and wow. Its incredibly good. Where shall I start? Firstly the place itself has always been smart enough. Has a proper oriental décor. The entrance is now through the bar area (the former pub entrance). There is a proper bar but never tried it. It feels nice and warm when you go in despite the many windows. You can ask for a Harbour View. The menu is excellent. Plenty of choice. We tried a few things over the 2 visits and everything was great. My favourites - Salt and Chill Prawns and the slow cooked pork belly 😋 The drinks choice is quite small with the wines going from budget (£24) to Middle class (£55) in just 5 steps but they are fine The service is the best thing. Absolutely brilliant. Previously there was a quite surly waitress but now all the staff are really friendly and helpful. The prices are reasonable, not cheap. Expect to pay around £10 per head over what the New Hong Kong would cost. Note - Accessibility is not great with plenty of steps. 24.10.15-A4-main-menu-v2-WEB-R.pdf Edited December 3, 2024 by Happier diner 1 Quote
Tinpot Posted February 11 Posted February 11 Shocking meal in here recently. Hopefully it was a one off, but food was poor (not even average) service was poor and it was very expensive for what we got at £120 for two of us with a few drinks. Quote
Passing Time Posted February 11 Posted February 11 Consistency is the key and sadly they don’t have that. We have been for lunch and couldn’t fault the place, but go there a week later and it’s terrible Quote

This isn't unusual in the restaurant trade, but Mrs Yang's seems to lose more than its share of employment tribunals too, most recently: Worker wins tribunal against Chinese restaurant 3 hours ago, Tinpot said: service was poor and it was very expensive for what we got at £120 for two of us with a few drinks. Well, they've got to recoup all those tribunal awards somehow. Quote
