Can anyone let me know how this works?

If someone is prescribed medicinal cannabis are they still subject to the driving limits that the police keep catching people for?

eg, if Trevor is an HGV driver and prescribed some can he drive as normal?

Also.  The Richard Corkhill pharmacist who runs this place, is he the Richard Corkhill who used to be in politics and have the chemist in Onchan?

You are in the wrong section mate.

Nope.

A new place has opened in Douglas, it was in the news this week.

I am asking questions about it.

Also.  Even if it was the wrong section (it isn’t) literally nobody but you cares.

Since you can be prosecuted for driving under the influence of prescription medication, I’m going to go out on a limb and say yes.

eta: if anyone knows different, please feel free, etc

Of course they're subject to normality. .

If 'Trevor' was prescribed any legal drug that could affect his driving...he'd still get done if he was under the influence of it.

...and rightly so.

Most HGV drivers won't touch a pint after 8pm if they're driving in the morning after a day's work.

Medicinal cannabis doesn't have THC

"The two cannabinoids produced in the highest quantities, and the most well-known, are tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD). While both cannabinoids are remarkably similar in chemical structure and both offer certain therapeutic benefits, THC produces intoxicating effects, whereas CBD does not."

I can assure you that medicinal cannabis prescribed on the Island contains THC and that patients can even choose the differentials between THC and CBD. My evidence for this is the two works people who came to fit doors in my back passage and who arrived in a cloud of prescription MJ, ate all my cakes, danced to Bob Marley and laughed like donkeys at my appalling jokes. That was NOT down to CBD.

According to the Gef article:

Superintendent pharmacist Richard Corkill described the new pharmacy as a ‘game changer for patients on the island’. adding that at 420 PHARMA, medicinal cannabis is ‘where it starts and ends for us’, so patients will ‘get the medication they need, when they need it’.

Now there only one Richard Corkill on the register of pharmacists, certain Richard Kenneth Corkill, which matches the name of the disgraced Chief Minister and the address is given as Ballasalla.  So presumably it's him.  His entry says he's not registered as a "superintendent pharmacist [who] takes responsibility for the way in which a company carries out its professional pharmaceutical activities" however, though I suppose there may be technical reasons for that.  He's 73 which seems late to start a new career, but good for him.

Can people get a prescription for cancer treatment?

It has anti tumor effects (apoptosis) and is antiemetic (nausea with chemo). Surely this is available on the NHS?

Source is the US Government, NIH paper:

https://www.cancer.gov/about-cancer/treatment/cam/hp/cannabis-pdq#_15

In your browser search the document for Antitumor Effects, try CTRL+F

or direct link

https://www.cancer.gov/about-cancer/treatment/cam/hp/cannabis-pdq#_7

Does the law still say it has no medical value?

The stupidity and regulatory capture has no end in sight.

You can legally buy beer and still be done for driving over the limit.

So yes even if it's prescribed you can still be done
