70? Pubs Of The Past

The Britania was opposite the old police station, now shores brow car park.

And the signage for the Sun & Moon can still be clearly seen in Victoria street

The pub at Shaws Brow opposite the Police Station was The Adelphi, not the Britannia. It was knocked down in the autumn of 1962 to make way for the original car park, as were dozens of houses.

The Talbot still exists in Athol Street as Talbot Chambers.

The Kit Kat wasn't on the ManxNet list. In my youth I just thought it sold Kit-Kats....

Couple of obscure ones for the Southerners - Perwick Bay Hotel, The Point

Thats right dave Got mixed up with Liverpool (BritaniaAdelph). The KitKit was on Douglas head road just past the entrance to the Fort Ann. One of the smallest bars was at Clinches Offy. Did You know that the Market Inn is if fact two seperate bars, one bar is owned by okells the other bt heron&brearly dont ask me why.

I wouldn't' be surprised if 'The Box' has sampled the beverages in both of them. It's about his era. :P
