A few more pubs and clubs that have gone, some in my memory, others not:-

The Tardis :-( - Now The Outback, prior to that it was the Nicky Dow).

Jimmy B's - now the Office

The White Star - Many years ago, Now a house, in West Baldwin. I think it's the one by the bridge, but I've only read about that one in a book.

The Academy - Rushen Abbey

The Hawthorn - now just a licensed restraunt, the traditional music sessions there are no more. :-(

Incidently Bushy's was Yate's wine lodge before it was Bushys.

That's all I can think off the top of my head.

Oh yeah, and thinking about it, if we're going years back, then what about all those pubs that were down where the bus station is now?

Incidently I can remember the Claredon briefly being named the Buzz Factory. Who can tell me the year, and for how long?

the Eagle Port erin. You could write a book in the Writers about that place . . .

Great to be reminded of the Carrick. The Carrick. Its a flat or something now. I'm just going to go in that flat right now and ask for a bottle of Castletown Nut Brown. Just to see what they say. . ..

I''ll be right back .. . .

The Sun was never on Victoria street, that was the offices of a newspaper.

Where the Hell was the Moon?

If you stand outside the Natwest bank, take a look at the gable above the Gas showrooms and after this take a look up Prospect hill to the gable end above the old paper shop, also take a look up at the gable above Barlays bank

It was at the head of the steps leading to the jetty. They had round tables so we would drink bottled and add each one to the table surface until eventually while adding one a bottle another would fall off the other end!

Aaahhh.... we knew how to live in them days....

I have very fond memories of the Buzz Factory.

By that I mean the fact that it lasted about nine days before the Brewery held their hands up and turned it back into the Clarendon.

Peppermint Palace, Joe's Cafe, Gelling's Foundry.

Pig and Whistle. OK. It might have been Nineteenth Century. But apparently it was on Strand Street. Just ask Peter Kelly.

The Nursery. Onchan's nightlife has not been the same since.

Zhivago's, when the small bar in the centre was called Bushy's - before it got ideas above its station.

Anyone mentioned the Theatre Royal?

Does anyone remember Dillys the barmaid in the Globe? I think she must have had a couple of thimbles down her jumper.

The Regent side bar? Was walking in there one day as a bloke came flying out the door followed by a poker and Rasputin the barman shouting "you're f***ing barred"
