Ripsaw Posted August 5, 2004 Posted August 5, 2004 McDonalds have launched a "Go Active" meal range where advice is offered to burning the calories and keeping fit. Examples such as: Instead of taking the car to the shops, why not walk. If you have to drive to the shops, try and park at the other end of the car park. Go for a 10 minute walk during your lunch hour ... and more listed here. Coincidentally, at the same time, nutritionists have announced that to burn off the calories from a Big Mac Meal, you'd have to walk for more than the length of the car park, or even for 10 minutes. However, it would take a 9.5 mile walk to burn off the 1,411 calories contained in a Big Mac Meal. Even one of McDonald's new Go Active salads would need a 2.5-mile walk. "It's good to see McDonald's trying to get the nation fitter but their food has too many calories," health expert Nicki Waterman told The Sun. "It's okay saying replace fries with salad but their dressings have more calories than the burgers." Source: Sky News

jagman Posted August 5, 2004 Posted August 5, 2004 Incidentally, McDonalds deny that its new 'healthy' image has anything to do with the film 'Supersize Me'. It's just a coincidence and anyway, they don't sell Supersize fries anymore. On a side note, details of George Clooney's latest role have emerged and it seems that he has to put on more than 40lbs and shave his head. Bet he won't be taking any 9.5 mile walks after his Big Macs! In compensation, he is being paid $20m - they could have got me cheaper.
ans Posted August 5, 2004 Posted August 5, 2004 I was on a basketball tour in Manchester once where one of the thicker members of the team decided that the queue was too big in the dining area and went through the drive through. I don't mean he walked up to the hatch, he stood in the line of cars. That was the day the Walk-Thru Restaurant was born. Oh, he never got served by the way, they laughed at him and told him to get off the road.
