Ripsaw Posted August 6, 2004 Posted August 6, 2004 whingey tw*t /debate: If the guy was unfairly defamed why shouldn't he take whatever means he thinks necessary to shut up the offending posters?
ans Posted August 6, 2004 Author Posted August 6, 2004 I think the point is, that Yahoo appear to have deleted all the relevant posts, but he is still proceeding with the action. If his intention was to remove posts which he felt were defaming him, he has suceeded. By continuing with the litigation, he is shining a 10 million watt bulb on the whole story and receiving far more attention to the comments than there would have been had he just taken the removal of the comments as a victory and left it there. I mean, would *you* have heard about it today? I know what the comments were because of this man's own publicity of them. Pursuing someone for damages when they appear to have taken reasonable action to remove them once the complaint was made seems ludicrous, petty and downright vindictive. Just a good job he's taken on a company with a bit of money so they can defend themselves effectively. Imagine if someone decided to sue someone independant who wouldn't be able to afford to defend themselves, even if they were in the right?
