Another Glass Of Red

She had got to the front gate

that evening

alone and late

 

She had left her key but

didn’t they all

Mom and Pop were always in, but

 

Her Mommy just swigged inside

another glass of red

and shut her eyes

 

Her daddy made up a jay

and hey,

let the world go away

“I need a bit of peace” he grinned - and lied“I’ve earned it!”

 

“Have I got a surprise for you”

rasped the monster

who was waiting for her there

 

The suddenly frightened girl pushed the bell

the monster just pushed

“Mom and Pop be quick” she shouted, but

 

Her Mommy just swigged inside

another glass of red

and shut her eyes

 

Her daddy made up a jay

and hey,

let the world go away

“It’ll only be the dealer” he grinned “let him wait.”

 

She could not scream as the chill

ran down her spine

and froze her as she thought

 

“Mom, Pop, I know you’re there

somewhere

on the other side of this door”, but

 

Her Mommy just swigged inside

another glass of red

and shut her eyes

 

Her daddy made up a jay

and hey,

let the world go away

“It’ll only be the tax man,” he grinned “he can wait too!”

 

“When I need you the most in my life

where are you

aaauuughhh . . . . now”

 

The young woman forced a scream

the monster just forced

she pushed the bell again, but

 

Her Mommy just swigged inside

another glass of red

and shut her eyes

 

Her daddy made up a jay

and hey,

let the world go away

“It’ll only be one of the kids left their key,” he grinned “I’ll finish me jay”

 

Although the monster did not

deliver

she would become a monster anyhow

 

She could never be the same again

from the best

of Mommy and Daddy

 

She had become the worst.
