Amadeus Posted December 14, 2005 Posted December 14, 2005 Every once in a while, our "friends" across the pont come up with a good idea: Kids can spy Santa on Internet thanks to NORAD Everyone knows Christmas Eve is the busiest day of the year for Santa Claus. With the pulling power of his eight-reindeer team - plus Rudolph - he spends December 24 flying in his sleigh delivering presents. Santa may not know it, but he's being 'observed' during his 'round-the-world trip by the North American Aerospace Defense Command, the U.S.-Canadian military organization known as NORAD. Every Christmas Eve, the Colorado Springs, Colorado, based organization provides information on the whereabouts of the man in the red suit and white beard at a website (www.noradsanta.org) and over the telephone for the benefit of children all around the world. NORAD has been tracking Santa's annual trek for 50 years. Since 1998, it has been able to broaden its audience considerably by posting the information 'in real time' on the Internet. Children and their parents can find out, for example, what country Santa is in and see it on a NORAD map.... ....NORAD will begin posting Santa's trek at its website on Christmas Eve starting at 12:01 a.m. Pacific Standard Time (0700 GMT). His position will be updated every five minutes. At the top of the hour, the website will show a short cartoon featuring scenes of the jolly old elf getting into his sleigh at the North Pole and flying over famous sights such as the Great Wall of China. So, grab the kids on December 24, log on to www.noradsanta.org, and show'em where the old man is at the moment...
Lonan3 Posted December 14, 2005 Posted December 14, 2005 We've watched this one for the past couple of years and it is pretty good for the kids. With the youngest being eight now, I strongly suspect that this year could be the last.
Amadeus Posted December 25, 2005 Author Posted December 25, 2005 He's already been to Germany, and is currently flying over London - love that site!
Santa Claus Posted December 25, 2005 Posted December 25, 2005 Santa may not know it, but he's being 'observed' during his 'round-the-world trip by the North American Aerospace Defense Command, the U.S.-Canadian military organization known as NORAD. HOHOHO Oh I new it HOHOHO. No one will ever catch Santa though.
Amadeus Posted December 25, 2005 Author Posted December 25, 2005 Oy! Keep your eyes on the road sky - instead of typing away on your laptop...
Gladys Posted December 25, 2005 Posted December 25, 2005 The lad and I watched this one last night. It was good! We even sent Santa two e-mails - funnily enough we got the same reply to both!
Amadeus Posted December 23, 2007 Author Posted December 23, 2007 Time to resurrect... Google Earth got in on the act - now the old man can be tracked in 3D or something - looks good. http://www.noradsanta.org
