Declan Posted June 25, 2004 Posted June 25, 2004 The person you're looking for is someone who posts regularly late at night, would be able to make an agreement with Sarah/Gary and is most likely still posting among us. They're also very unlikely to straight out confess to it for a long time. Someone much like yourself in fact?
Addie Posted June 25, 2004 Posted June 25, 2004 I bet Steven!!!!! edited by steven etc, etc was either Roxanne or Wilddog
Grib Posted June 25, 2004 Author Posted June 25, 2004 Oh come on, the lot of you.... It was steven NOT Steven. A little point maybe but when you're talking about Him, you could at least get it right. Edited to add: Roxanne or Wilddog?! Much as those two are much admired, there's a certain injustice there. Nope, for my money it was declan.
Declan Posted June 25, 2004 Posted June 25, 2004 Nope, for my money it was declan. I think you'll find my name is Declan.
Observer Posted June 25, 2004 Posted June 25, 2004 (And definitely not Dec, or 'mate' to those he isn't)
Declan Posted June 25, 2004 Posted June 25, 2004 My mates can also call me Dec, but I dpn't like faux mateiness.
Ariel Posted June 25, 2004 Posted June 25, 2004 When he first started I thought I had caught him out as he wrote a quick reply once with no spelling mistales and good grammar. That made me think he was probably a right good troll. There's a simple reason why Steven didn't make it to Manxonline... community moderators. Previously on Manx.net, you had two people (Gary/Sarah) with access to the IP information. Say 'steven' had an arrangement with them that they wouldn't reveal that he was a regular user trolling. Now move forward to ManxOnline where there were a lot more moderators, perhaps people that they weren't overly friendly with and certainly people that 'steven' didn't want to find out about his big wheeze. Same situation as here. The person you're looking for is someone who posts regularly late at night, would be able to make an agreement with Sarah/Gary and is most likely still posting among us. They're also very unlikely to straight out confess to it for a long time. Maybe I was being exceedingly dense, but I haven't the faintest idea who steven was, and yes I did look at his IP from time to time but never managed to match it up to another username's IP..... you obviously do know ans, but you're crediting me with more intelligence than I appear to actually have... or was it that I was too busy to really have time to find out... nah the former I'm sure
Grib Posted June 25, 2004 Author Posted June 25, 2004 Either way Ariel, they were good days. Thanks a lot. (Oh dear, does that make me sound like vader???)
Stavros Posted June 25, 2004 Posted June 25, 2004 and yes I did look at his IP from time to time but never managed to match it up to another username's IP..... You wouldn't have been able to! Stav.
Grib Posted June 26, 2004 Author Posted June 26, 2004 I see Old George Woods has just come up the beach with his welly's on. Oh, and there's FCMR and chuft too . . . but they're presently "validating". Maybe there's one of them committee meetings going on first.
FCMR Posted June 27, 2004 Posted June 27, 2004 I too was sorry to see the other two forums close down, but have to say they done a lot of good for the IOM It seems that these forums have opened the publics eyes, people are now asking how to access them which can only be good. I may be wrong but I dont think Chufty was the cause of the shut downs, but he feels that some of you are casting the blame on his head ( he has emailed me to say that he has been denied the chance to join this forum even after being emailed by some of you to sign up )
Grib Posted June 27, 2004 Author Posted June 27, 2004 FCMR Hi there, I for one did not mind chuft's posts. As with anything on forums people have to decide what is junk or banter or truth or whatever. A lot of what was discussed seemed fair to me but annoying or irritating to others. It does not seem to be the time to discuss why the other forums, but in particular ManxOnline, were closed down. (I hope the time will come soon when we can discuss that openly). I understand that the chuft threads, were not the main cause of shutdowns. He did kind of jump into the forums with both feet and wondered why he got a bit of stick at times!
