Declan Posted June 27, 2004 Posted June 27, 2004 I didn't know Chuft had been rejected membership, however, I am glad that he has. Various forums have quietly exisited in one form or another for years - they have been a place for writers to share their work, musicians to promote their gigs, Monkey_Magic to keep in touch with his family, and people generally to chew the fat and have a good old fashioned row. All Chuft has done is repeat what some fella has said to him in the Pub. That he has often (but not always) been proved right is immaterial to me. I care a lot more about all the other things the community that populates these forums discuss than I do about whatever skeet Chuft might have found. I admit he has a following and people are interested in what he says but I don't see why he should neccessarily air his views on a general forum. It is easy to set up I a forum (I did - Manx Writers) I suggest he sets up one him self. Try this site - Get Free Forum. Or he can continue to post at Manx Chat where they believe that the more private nature of their site leaves them immune from political interferrence.
Grib Posted June 27, 2004 Author Posted June 27, 2004 In amongst all that you make a good point declan. Chuftie has a certain following. I know many people are very interested in what he has to say. It takes a certain amount of courage to do what he has done and said. If he set up his own site he would attract a cult following at least. Now consider this - there's an election coming up in a year or two.....
Observer Posted June 27, 2004 Posted June 27, 2004 I didn't know he had been refused membership either - I have to admit, I found a lot of what was posted interesting and it made me take a more active interest in local politics where previously I was fairly blind to it.
ans Posted June 27, 2004 Posted June 27, 2004 More likely he hasn't just replied to his e-mail. That is exactly what has happened. Chuft has not been denied membership, he's just not clever enough to work out how to complete the signup procedure. Would suggest somoene tells him it's his own fault before he goes round telling everyone that he's being denied his freedom of speech.
Slim Posted June 27, 2004 Posted June 27, 2004 I think the email validation will lose a lot of posters, especially duplicates.
manxbird Posted July 2, 2004 Posted July 2, 2004 Great - I've found you all at last! It's lovely to be here. I'd really appreciate some help with my avatar ............. I should have saved the one that someone very kindly created on Manxonline but it wasn't to be.
Observer Posted July 2, 2004 Posted July 2, 2004 Hi manxbird and welcome - PM Ans about the avatar as he prepared it for you and more than likely still has it.
