  1. Creg, not tried for Sunday lunch but the non-Sunday menu is fantastic, the quality very good and the service excellent.

We went to the Creg for Sunday lunch a couple of weeks ago and I can highly recommend it.

The Queens isn't bad either although they do tend to drown the food in gravy so maybe best to ask for the gravy separately and not poured over.

I like the Sunday carvery at the Hilton as well. They do the yummiest cheesecake ever, and you can have more than one piece!

  2. I see nobody has mentioned the Ballakermeen science teacher who used to plonk his testicles on the corner of the desks when talking to girls (best not mention his name) ;)

a bit windy today though isnt it

I was gonna mention him earlier but wasn't quite sure how to phrase it! It was worse if he stood behind you to look over your shoulder to check your work

(Not quite sure I get the windy reference, WSAG)

I remember the long haired science lab assistant and the only other one I remember was a lad not much older than the pupils, think he was called Colin(?)

  3. It always amazes me how some teachers still recognise you after all these years, they have such good memories. Even a couple of my primary school teachers still say hello to me and remember my name, it's been 25+ years since they taught me! Have you noticed that some teachers never seem to age either?

Gareth Jones was another good teacher, he was a strict but fair man.

  4. From the teachers you've mentioned sounds like you (and minnie) were there about the same time as me (85-90)

I was at Balla '83-'89. Remember Mr Knight very well, one of the best and nicest teachers there.

Won't mention any names but I remember our class going into one of the classrooms and two very red faced teachers appearing from inside the stock cupboard......looking for a certain textbook apparently! <_<

Does anybody remember Ernie Entwhistle or Mr McGuigan(?) (metalwork teacher who wore very strange trousers)?

  5. I don't recall Benny Ball having a skinhead but he did have a bald patch with strange groove things on that bit of his head.

My favourite teacher was Mr McSheffery and least favourites were Mr Vaukins and Mr Tattersall....he used to throw the board cleaner at you if you weren't paying attention.

One thing which sticks in my mind from Ballakermeen was Mrs Galbraith, the English teacher, sitting down for the lesson, her chair collapsed and she ended up in a heap on the floor.

  6. .....the sand even smells of sh*t if you have a really good sniff (erm).  I went for a swim recently and it was like being in bangers and mash soup.

God knows what you smell like then if you've really been swimming in the sea! :o
