Watched "What we do in the shadows" last night. A comedy about a film crew making a documentary about a group of vampires sharing a house in New Zealand. Surprisingly funny, has some of the guys from Flight of the Conchords in it.

    Werewolves....not Swearwolves!

  2. So in essence....

    IOM Govt had a punt

It sort of did OK, but we'll never really know the true economic benefit (or otherwise)

    Funds still exposed

Mr Christian did well and continues to do so

Therein lies the blueprint for future uses of Govt funds......the Isle of Man, where you can.....

  3. You never will. The profit from the share purchase will be evident, but the return from film investment's always going to be hard to ascertain exactly as it's a development fund not an investment fund. Long tails, promotion of local business relating to films, boat/hotel bookings etc.

So bit like the TT then.....inevitable and unquantifiable....

  4.

Would you like to know what the IOM said to David Benioff and D. B Weiss the two executive producers of Game of Thrones when HBO was considering where to locate the production?

Why not ask your MHK to put the question to Allan Bell?

No. I'm going to ask you. What did "the IOM" say?

    You know nothing Alan Bell.....

  5. I suggest we need a Venn diagram showing the relationships between-

    Isle of Man Film Commission

    CinemaNX

    The Media Development Fund

    Isle of Man Film Ltd

    Pinewood Financial Advisers Ltd

    Pinewood Shepperton plc

    Steve Christian

Maybe Kate Beecroft MHK could ask for it on our behalf.

Wouldnt it just be one circle?

  6. I had to come from north into town this morning. Mountain shut. Came coast road to Laxey, then nipped up Rencell because I knew Creg Back Road was open and it is quieter than Onchan. I reckoned without the idiots who had the same idea but have no idea how to drive on snow and ice.

All the way along from the Begoade Road junction they were dithering along at about 10mph and because they had lost all momentum they were slithering to a halt and were unable to get going again. A few 4 wheel drives were going around them and I joined them with my rear wheel drive. Not a problem if you just keep a lowish gear and some revs and momentum. Even when onto the mountain road down into town I passed loads of them who were still doing 20mph. A couple had slid into each other through lack of control despite the snail's pace.

    Cool story bro!

  7. I think the conflict of interest is a nice smokescreen behind which to hide what a complete waste of time and money this has been/is?

    IMHO of course.

Mr Christian would of course disagree! Couple more pay rises and he can be added to the "tax cappers" head count.
