  1. Well considering Thor, Iron Man (1&2), Hulk (both versions) and finally Captain America were all let downs I'm not holding out much hope for the Avengers movie.
  2. Tesco have a time limit for delivery on foods etc, Mezerons boat had been loaded yesterday morning then had a 14hr sailing to the IOM, seeing as Tescos food is not the best for being fresh wonder what todays delivery is like, the milk could now be a bit cheesy It is the year 2010. Have you not heard of chilled containers?
  3. Betcha loved The A Team though But of course.
  4. Watched Splice this weekend. Its been a long time since I have watched a film and wish I had never bothered. Far too long to get going, the main characters make every decision against what any normal person in the real world would do just for the sake of progressing the plot (you know..."that" sex scene) and the ending is just dripping in the current trend of "sequalitis". Utterly terrible film. And Shutter Island, well what can I say. Having never read the book I was suprised at how easy it was to predict the out come of the film. Not much of thriller if the thrill is there to see pretty much from the get go.
  5. I have BBTS, Space Raiders and......The Last Starfighter on a (cough, cough) digital copy. On a side note, they have released a comic series called Battle Amongst The Stars, which tells the tale of Zed the Corsair as a young man and how he came into possesion of Nell and the rise of Sador of the Malmori.
  6. Saw the A-Team last night. When I had seen the trailers for this film, I felt my 80's childhood die just that little bit more (Knightrider NNNNOOO!O!!!!!!!). But having watched the film itself I fell a little bit better. Certainly a fun film to watch and the characters aren't too badly mangled (not totally convinced by Rampage jackson as B.A. not enough....well Mr. T about him).
  7. Loved both those films. Was the lizard type humanoid on the good or bad side in Battle Beyond the Stars? He reminds me of the lizard humanoid in The Last Starfighter and slightly less so in Ememy Mine. Lizard people where in vogue back then. Ah, you mean Cayman of the Lambda Zone. He was a goodie of sorts. He was going to sell the female lead character into slavery or have her melted down for her proteins until he heard that she was fighting the evil Sador of the Malmori.
  8. Have you seen the 1980 (I think...) sci-fi re-imagining of the Seven Samurai/Magnificent Seven called Battle Beyond the Stars? I love the cheesy 80's styling and good showings from George Peppard (Hannibal from the orignal A-Team), Richard Thomas (from the Waltons) and John Saxon (Who interestingly played almost the exact same character in the Magnificent Seven) and the effects were created by a J. Cameron (you know Aliens, Terminator, Titanic, Avatar etc). Now the effects are a bit naff when held up to the likes of Star Wars/Empire Strikes back but consindering they had a fraction of the budget they did resonably well. Interesting side note: The score and space ship effects were used (scene for scene) in another chessy 80's Sci-Fi flick, Space Raiders
  9. I thought Predators was the sequel that Predator deserved. Certainly better than AVP/AVP 2. In answer to your question, the US Army geezer in digi-cam who became a floor pizza answers the question. Not much fun hunting something thats dead.
  10. The Mutant Chronicles is based on a pen and paper RPG of the same name. Now the film has some big names involved, Ron Pearlman, John Malcavich, Sean Pertwee and Thomas Jane. Set in the distant future, where technology has failed and steam based devices are the main locamotion (including steam powered aircraft). There are no nations only the Corperations that constant fight for territory and dwindleing reseources. During one such battle a giant stone seal is broken in the earth, unleash the mutant minions of "The Machine" which fell to earth thousands of years ago. Then the film devolves into a by the numbers squard based film (i.e. Aliens, Predator, etc), where the team mates are killed off one at a time until the main character is left to save the day. The special effects remind me of Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow. Not great. Overall its worth seeing the once. And only the once.
  11. I watched the Mutant Chronicles last week and saw it was produced in the IOM. Anyone know how much was produced in the IOM?
  12. Harry Brown. Awesome film. Albiet no different in story to any Arnie, Sly, Van Damme revenge for killing my brother/sister/old fart chess playing mate, but the setting and the characters make it. "You failed to maintain your weapon." Class.
  13. Heard a piece on the Wright Stuff (from the Sun or the Wail I think) that green house gases and a hole in the ozone layer are in fact helping protect the ice caps by creating new air flows and air currents which are cooling the ice caps. Although take it with a pinch of salt considering the red tops are the source.
  14. My bad, I meant your adult gun, which tries to look real but isn't. A sort of grown up toy. Not sure what your trying to get at. What does it matter that it looks like a real gun or not?
  15. You mean your Glock17L toy gun? No I meant my KSC Glock17L. Its an airsoft pistol. Not a toy.
  16. Met Just John a while back, selling my Glock17L to him (it's a dog eat dog world in insurance.) Which reminds me, JJ, give me another text I've lost your number, if you still the Glock putting back together.
  17. Well the only certainty is that we don't know anything for definate. It is a gamble. If it goes in our favour there will be alot of very silly looking fear mongerers about. If it doesn't go our way and the world basically becomes unihabitable for human life...who's going to be around to say "We told you so"?
  18. Indeed. the IPCC report quotes a statistical probability of 90% that AGW is real. Dave Well that will do for me 90% right is better than 10% wrong
  19. After reading the epic saga that is this thread I have come to the follow conclusions... Ringwraith lives in a hardened, TEMPEST proof bunker and needs to relax more. There is no definate proof either way from either side of the arguement. This thread needs to keel over and go the way of the dinosaurs (thats if they did exsist...)
