Of course yeah, everything is covid, i'd forgot.

I didn’t say that. I observed that in the current week my dentist and two friends had tested positive.

One of the friends had thought it was the coughing sore throat aches & flu. His mum had a spare in date test. Strong red line.

I note the TT brought strangers flu.

There’s a covid upsurge. Dentist cancelled Tuesday, two friends had to cancel a visit, police short staffed.

Yesterday I sat in a consultation/interview room with a client who coughed and spluttered for 2 hours. Hope my jabs keep me safe.

That is crap Banker they were seasonal staff taken on to pick grapes, grapes do not grow all the year around so they do not require workers to pick them.    Everywhere he has been on the Island he has been welcomed and he has happily posed for photos and I am told he is friendly and has made a good impression.    If he did move here how would that offend anyone there are far worse people living on the Island.   So far the worst thing he has done is wear brown shoes ffs.

No, these were waiters, kitchen staff, cleaners, bed makers, bar workers, who worked in what had previously been an all year round resort, tourist destination.

It did. This is lifted from your governments road traffic act of 1985:

'2C Causing serious bodily harm by careless or inconsiderate driving
A person who causes serious bodily harm to another person by driving a
mechanically propelled vehicle on a road or other public place without due care
and attention, or without reasonable consideration for other persons using the
road or place, is guilty of an offence'.

The punishment listed in the schedule is six months imprisonment or £5000 fine or both with obligatory endorsement  and ban.

The act received royal assent in September 1985 and your government passed it into law in October 1985.

    It's here: 1985-0023_7.pdf (gov.im)

You missed of the footnote 8 from the end of section 2C when you quoted.

When you go to footnote 8, 170+ pages further on, it confirms the s.2C was inserted in  2012 by s.6 of the Road Traffic and Highways (Miscellaneous Amendments) Act 2012.

its like the drug driving prescribed limits stuff, which wasn’t brought into force until early 2023 and is in s5AA and 5AB. Which aren’t in the copy of the Act you’ve linked to. That was introduced by The Road Traffic ( Amendment ) Act 2021

People can be twats, terrible way to treat anyone

When I came back from uni I used to go to the Chinese takeaway on Arbory Strret about once a week. The abuse that Danni took from drunks calling in for chips after closing at the Union or George or Vic or Gluepot was unpleasant.

That's a shame. I was going to try the buffet.

    It’s not totally clear.

Think they may have had some difficult customers over TT

    Owner’s husband says

Let me say something about this restaurant ,it is owned by my wife ,she is a lovely kind lady ,it is new opened from first day of this TT ,aims on original Chinese food not English Chinese food. Also if you don’t like it is normal ,but don’t criticise too much ,if you feel dishes getting cold you can tell the staff ,they will help you heating it,and you also can wait new dishes coming out.  Cos new open ,she will keep improving as well, after TT there will not be Buffet everyday, you can order or book ,but it will be not 15/person. I have met several people who is travelling around the world, especially the people who has been to China said to us,the food is the same as when they were in China, the food is good. So that is what we want, but not English Chinese food.

Another thing, the restaurant closes at 9:00PM,after 8:00PM,the manager will tell people who step in we nearly close, left not too much food and they are getting cold. But several people maybe around 9:00PM came and said they don’t care just want to eat also they have drunk too much (they even touched the female stuff’s shoulders,we know they were drunk almost) ,under the situation we let them in ,served them and all delayed closing for them. What if you will do?

And another story ,two guys ,they stepped in and ate more than two dishes food and go to check the bill said: I am local people and I don’t like it and I will not pay otherwise I will stand by front of your restaurant and tell everybody don’t come in. We should call police but my wife Su don’t charge them just two coke . I want ask if you don’t like why you ate two more dishes …🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

So if we want make shit for people why we open a restaurant? We can cook shit and bring it to people for free🤣🤣🤣

    Asia Fresh is.

Not Asía Fresh - which is Quines Corner.

Grand House is 35 North Quay.

The new Timeout opened today at 5pm.

Definitely different shop front to Grand House. Think it’s 17.

    WW2 - Sept 39 until Sept 45

The UK declared war on Germany 3rd of Sept 1939

    I know.

But nothing happened during the first 8 months, from a British point of view. Not for nothing is September ‘39 to April ‘40 known as the “phoney war”.

The “We went to war to stop the Nazis” thing, as you call it, is really late ‘40’s and ‘50’s and on. It’s only something that can be said once war is over and the Nazis have been stopped.

1940-1945 people were too involved with fighting, the war effort and simply surviving, to think such an abstract concept.

Home Run Pizza in Broadway has reopened after being closed TT.

They’re delivery only. No eat in. I can understand a business decision to close with the uncertainty of when roads may or may not be open and delayed delivery due to congestion.

Is it any different to Tesco closing down home grocery delivery for the fortnight? Or Terrace Chippy suspending its delivery service for the fortnight.

We had friends over. They wanted fish & chips. Ordered on line for delivery, took 2 hours from central Douglas to top end Vicarage Road

Bloke down the pub rumour, and from some time ago too, so take with a pinch of salt.

I heard that they have no electricity supply, I can't remember exactly why, perhaps was the cost, perhaps it was overlooked - there was some reason but I can't remember it.

Might be rubbish, but that's what I heard.

Subject to planning enforcement.  Details on the planning webpage.  One is fine, the other is in the wrong place, or too high and works done to raise the plot and land not included in the site plan so I believe.

There are two new houses. Furness Cottage and Lancashire House.

Finding the correct applications is hard. The planning interactive map is all overlaid. The site has 16 applications since 1999.

One of them was built at wrong level, but that that was rectified by a retrospective planning last year. However that left drainage out on the other plot. There’s an application currently under consideration about that.

Not according to easyJet app and someone who was on flight, options are refund, rebook or voucher as according to statement it’s beyond their control so nothing else is offered.

As the inbound passengers were in the air and were diverted they are EZY responsibility to get to destination, feed, accommodate, compensate.

The outbound only become EZY responsibility, in an event outside their control situation, if they’ve gone through security and are airside.

The way to sort it is close it & save £2/3m Pa and just import the meat, would mean losing local meat production but save massive subsidies for farmers as well. Downside is that many farmers would lose livelihood & we would be reliant on imports.

Live export is near impossible. Has to be accompanied by a qualified stockman, They mustn’t be in the transporter more than 8 hours. That includes the ferry journey. That’s why it stopped out of Ramsey.

Say 1 hour to port plus one hour marshalling and loading then 4 hours on board. Then a trip to the nearest abattoir. I think that’s probably Preston or Carlisle. So another hour or two. Any delays and it’s out of time.

Im pretty sure both Preston and Carlisle receive 24/7.

The farmers get better prices in England.

im not in favour of live export. But perhaps we could explore the abattoir becoming slaughter and chill only with carcasses being sent over and butchered and packed in England. Then stuff for Manx consumption could be sent back?

Presumably that would reduce head count, including management and preparation, and reduce abattoir costs. The increased price to farmers would benefit them. Government could pay to operate the basic abattoir operation.  Fatstock Marketing Association/Manx Meats could be folded.

When we’re there days that there wasn’t a possibility of racing?  I can’t remember that, the Tuesday and Thursday were always contingency days or at least have been for a long time haven’t they?

Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday were always contingency days. Plus daily 5am starts for practices during practice week.

Things have changed. I think it’s better.

I suspect part of the impetus was to extend the number of days that people could come and stay for a few days given the decreased number of boats and hotel beds.

It is interesting that we’ve now got planning for 3 new hotels within a few hundred yards of each other, and of the sea terminal.

    Villiers Yard

    Royalty House

    Salvation Army.
