    1. He's been utterly useless. 2. He made an explicit promise before being elected and then did a complete volte face. 3. Many of those who voted for him will have died by the next election. 4. Everyone now knows for sure just how bad he is and there'll be no benefit of the doubt next time. 5. I live in the constituency and I know what current public opinion is.

I agree, a friend of mine lives in the constituency too and believes the Green Goddess is more interested in saving the planet and everyone buying an electric car rather than dealing with issues that are important to her constituents, which is ironic really she is a big supporter of the Steam Railway who can’t run without coal. I rest my case.

You can listen to her rather feeble excuses here:

Apparently the "very small climate team" of only ten people have been "very much caught up in the last month with the logistics and installation"[1] of GAIA and so far too busy to put a "communications plan into place" to publish a report that seems to have been already completed for many months.

[1]  Note that this doesn't imply they've been doing anything as vulgar as the logistics or installation themselves.

Nice find, you couldn’t make it up, the team of 10 went to work to play, what a total farcical Gov we have.

According to Daphne, the WHOLE climate team spent 2 months on the Gaia installation.

That is exactly what is wrong with Government, masses of CS going to work to play!  Daphne will be gone at the next general election so she's making the most of her climate idiocy.

Two million paid out in 2022 to civil service chancers like him alone. It isn’t isolated at all. They see what others manage to get funded by us and are so self entitled that they fancy a go themselves. Often we pay without a fight under NDA to avoid the negative publicity when if it was defended properly they’d have likely lost.

No managerial leadership in every CS department, HR at IOM Gov are a disaster, just look how they recently overpaid Civil Servants 500K. Mrs Lord Brennan said she was looking into that one but it will no doubt be forgotten about! and No I am not a Civil Servant Lol.

  5. Just read this article about a former Civil Servant challenging the Government for alleged numerous issues - https://www.iomtoday.co.im/news/isle-of-man-civil-servants-claim-for-unlawful-deduction-of-wages-struck-out-687015

The problem lies directly in the IOM Civil Service, this bloke will have spent lots of his time at work conjuring up issues when he should have been actually working on behalf of us the tax payer, where were his line managers ensuring he was working for the good of the IOM?

Not fit for purpose springs to mind, but hey ho it’s us Tax Payers that pay for some of these lunatics that work for the IOM Government.

As a point of clarity not all Civil Servants are like this deluded individual.

  6. The geezer will do 4 months of his 8 so he will be out mid July and back to his idiocies.

He won’t change, he is an habitual so will no doubt be in the limelight again before the summer is out.

  7. Listening and looking at all the threads of late with regards to the issues with our Chief Minister, MHK’s and MLC’s is it not time we looked at a shorter General Election period from the current five year term to a more sustainable maybe three year period?

I just feel of late we the public have very little say mid five year term and if it was shortened we have the ability to get shut of the riff-raff a bit quicker?

    Debate!

  8. Mrs Poole-Wilson is a very astute lady and probably cleverer than most in there, unfortunately she is very, very politically correct and I am sure this would slow things even more than what we see in Manx Politics today. I can only hope that there is a new and up and coming set of bright candidates on the horizon, that’s the only hope we really have at present, let’s ride this next 2 years and hope for a brighter future!!!

  9. I bet this whole situation has arisen by some new fresh faced civil servant who has found some legislation which could earn our failing government a few bob. He/she will no doubt be praised by the woke civil service managers (and there are lots of them) for coming up with such a great idea.

Meanwhile Jo Public are getting shafted yet again.

Time for Alf to get tough… Hang on a minute….🤔

In spar defense for once - Tesco will be selling as a loss leader,

the same people on the let’s give big pay rises to everyone fail to remember cost base for all these businesses increase accordingly.

And how often do you find loss leaders with other outlets on the Isle of Man? Not many, so bring it on Tesco.

    Thanks Gladys

    The radio reports says this:

“A social media post by the Isle of Man Constabulary's Roads Policing Unit which has been described by the Manx force as 'unacceptable' has been referred to the police's professional standards department.”

If I am reading this correctly that’s an internal section of the Police, in other words in-house!? (I may be totally wrong).

So I wonder if the Police Complaints Commissioner has or should be involved?

Maybe @Derek Flint could tell us?

I agree to an extent. I started with a trial page for North and then the main media page. RPU had a presence, and dogs were a PR winner. Individual officers including the chief came on board.

They were doing what cops should be doing - communicating.with their public. In places it loses its way from time to time. My view was inform, educate and advise, and actually give folk an insight. But it's hard work to be across 24/7 without a proper comms team.

You can  keep the criticism up, but what you'll end up with is a closure of Individual accounts, a corporate firewall and then you'll complain that the cops never tell you anything. It's happened elsewhere.

Your choice. But.be careful what you wish for

I sort of agree with what you are saying Derek but it’s Constabulary overload, let’s keep it simple and not overload the party of Social Media, this little issue has highlighted that the accounts need streamlining and a stricter corporate approach needs to be adopted, if not these scenarios will rumble on and on and the boys and girls in blue will continue to be challenged in each section they represent.

  13. Just looking at Facebook why are there so many Isle of Man Constabulary FB pages? Dog unit, Road Policing unit, Northern, Southern, Eastern, Western Pages, and the main IOM Constabulary Page, possibly others FFS who on earth can keep a rick on these cops posting whatever they want, a Social Media review is needed to consolidate this lot.

  14. Have we got a new Chief Constable and if so can you remind me who he/she is? I am sure Mrs Poole-Wilson the Minister for the Department of Home Affairs will also not be happy with these Social Media remarks/comments as she is the most politically correct person in the whole world. Little Dan will no doubt be leading the investigation and possibly cock the whole thing up again.
