Indeed - I can think of two examples off the top of my head, present case excepted.

No. I am not. I genuinely am not sure what point he is making. That's why I asked.

It’s definitely not just confined to the civil service.

  2. Self-representation is a fairly common muppetry red flag. It can mean they've been told by lawyer after lawyer that they don’t have a case, but plough on anyway.

I suspect it often starts out as a naked money grab, but as matters progress they actually convince themselves that there’s some dark conspiracy against them, because they can’t possibly be in the wrong.

I distributed the press release that sparked the latest round of reporting, I don't know what else you would expect to be done here.

I thought it might have warranted a disappointed article on the, shall we euphemistically call them "foibles", of the IOM planning process. I suppose it's all been done before, though.

I think manxman1980 hit on the truth last week:

not so much that anything illegal may have taken place but they are aiming to portray her as a hypocrite.  They are trying to say that she took advantage of a scheme that allowed the sale of Council Houses and made a financial gain as a result and that having done so she now wishes to prevent anyone else being able to do that by changing the rules around buying Council Houses.

I mean, it's still desperate deflection tactics from a doomed party, but if that's all they've got...

The Rodney King affair hadn't left too much doubt about that.

Are you sure he's real? Looks like he's being played by Sasha Baron-Cohen.

Definitely not Sasha Baron-Cohen. I think he'd be quite offended by that comparison as he REALLY doesn't seem to like Jews very much.

Speaking of rabbit holes, I just spent 5 minutes scanning down Shem Heather Allanson's page. It is actually genuinely frightening to think that such complete and utter fuckwits walk among us. Here's one of my favourite posts from February:

I have reason to believe that the person currently in control of Courtenay Heading's twitter account is not his wife but a friend of CH called "John Patrick Cleary" who seems to be the UK-based puppet master behind CH's delusions.

This nuthatch I presume, given the content and the presence of certain other Manx cuckoo birds on the page?

I've spent my 36th Wedding Anniversary alone because my husband dared to speak out about the fraudulent lies and corrupt behaviour. He's in prison for speaking out and standing up to the lying bullies that care more about their salaries than their fellow human beings. Mrs H

Nothing about him stalking a pregnant woman!

"Mrs H" had better get used to it, because I can see Mr H becoming a habitual resident of HMP Jurby. He's too far down too many rabbit holes, and his wife is obviously reinforcing his delusions rather than trying to help rein them in.

The £88.50 price is only if you apply online. Using a paper application is £100. IoM doesn't have an online application option, so you pay the same paper application cost

Agile and Sprint probably work when you know what the goal is and where you should be heading. i'm not sure IOM Government know that.

I wonder what the Minimum Viable Product for the prom was.

On second thought, I'm glad I don't know.

If you want as near to next day delivery you are better off posting either signed for or special delivery. You can also track your letters progress.

    Just now, Manxweegie said:

Just to add to a few comments and something i should have posted at the start - all these items were posted Royal Mail Tracked 48.

I received a small packet on Wednesday 3rd April, posted on Monday 25th March using Royal Mail 48. So, 9 days rather than the "estimated 2 or 3 days" description of that service. (In fairness, this included the Easter weekend.)

I couldn't tell you whether the delay was Royal Mail or IOM, because according to the tracking the package is still in Belfast.

Unfortunately if attacked you have no other choice but to get out there and kill the enemy.

Speaking of rhetorical, after the attack on their embassy in Syria imagine that Iran came into possession of a few dirty bombs and told the inhabitants of Jerusalem or Tel Aviv they had a week to be elsewhere, then detonated the devices a few days early stating that IDF commanders in the area were war criminals and legitimate targets who were using civilians as human shields.

Just as well Iran doesn't have any nuclear material, eh?

As Hamas are totally amoral they just view it as a useful tactic to use despite any civilian casualties that their actions may cause. Because they simply view civilians as expendable.

If setting innocent civilians up in this way is totally amoral on the part of Hamas, what does that make the IDF and their political masters when they fire rockets at the hospitals?

If Hamas genuinely don't care about the civilians (and you may well be right there) then Israel are giving them exactly what they set out to achieve on that awful day in October.

No one could get through to their doctors surgery at 8am today due to the clocks going forward an no one had changed the time in the system (so it still thought it was 7am). Resolved in about 30 minutes.

The Government is just continually inept. Basic thing that someone should be responsible for twice a year. It's quite baffling they haven't actually got the system linked to an NTP server that would update the time automatically, but that probably asking too much. Allows them to hire someone to do it manually I guess.

    Useless.

Whoever did it last time was probably on holiday. Or it was diarised to be done on Monday morning, but because it was Easter that never happened. I mean, who could possibly have known in advance that a moveable feast could ever coincide with a clock change.

There's a good summary of the law of war, and what various international courts and tribunals have established as being allowable, or illegal. And it’s not just death or injury, but damage to infrastructure that damages the life of civilians.

The "law of war" tends to be applied retrospectively, long after the civilians are already dead and their towns destroyed.
