Why do we need such a big response and a closed road these days?  When cars were much less safe we would have pushed those to the side of the road, swept the road and maybe sent a couple of coppers.

Chances are; many of the valid contributors on MF are civil servants or have business contracts with Government and hence remain anonymous. It reflects the culture of government that forums and such commentary like this exist.

If you could sum up the uselessness of the Isle of Man Government framework in one example, this is it. 

After negotiating the unkempt coastal footpaths, why not treat yourself to the complete let down of another 'closed' sign?

The protection of top level CS and AG Chambers is a big part of why this Island is in decline.

The 'opposition' is made of characters who, you could argue haven't achieved much in their non political life. Being elected has given status and financial security.

It's highly improbable that any of them have the nerve to call a realistic challenge, let alone unify a core of dissenters.

Simple measure to cut Government spending would be to terminate all CS/PS jobs that are filled by 'double dippers' who have 'retired' and returned to 'work' in Government. (Avoid any essential medical roles)

Lose these extras and just get on with the consequences. Cuts have to be made.
