  1. The two Sunday morning flights make no sense other than for slot management. Equally the weekly schedule with it leaving at 9.45am as compared to 11.45am previously is similarly strange as it is going head to head with EasyJet Gatwick .
  2. Apologies I was not specifically referencing you with regard to unnecessary comments I was making a general point . My overall view has been well stated throughout the thread that I don’t believe letting Tesco acquire all the Shoprite stores was the right thing for the island it has ended up with a disparate market share . And I think Tesco commercial behaviour is not always what it seems and whilst I agree it’s not all about sausages it’s an example of the sort of thing that goes on . The reason I have provided the information about sausages is its specific evidence to support my opinion .
  3. Of course I don’t advocate any of that I am not sure if I ever did ! All I am doing is sharing my opinion and view it might help some people think about things and if it doesn’t then that’s fine too each to their own . I think some posters misunderstood me at times I recognise that the newly refurbished Tesco stores are a good thing for example the stores are modern and up to date with the latest environmental considerations . What I don’t necessarily agree with is some of Tescos commercial behaviour ( and it’s this that I have largely called out ) and it remains to be seen how that will be in the future on the island . What I do find extraordinary is how so many posters just don’t seem interested in the price of their food what’s happening with it or simply dismiss it as irrelevant but I recognise that’s their choice too . What I try not to do is send unnecessary comments like “ you need medical help “ when I don’t like or don’t agree with someone .
  4. Of course it’s all listed and it’s everyone’s choice what to do that is at least the benefit of prepackaged products with clear labelling . The central point is that you are getting less for your money . I should have also added in my note to @display namethat the consumer group Which did a big study into exactly this sort of thing and much more maybe I should write to them and all their readers who found it enlightening and suggest they all need medical help too !!!!
  5. If understanding what I am eating and what I am paying for what I am eating requires medical help then yes I require it . Personally I think anyone who does not think about what they are putting in their mouth and for how much is more in need of medical help !
  6. Indeed it’s bad practice. And for a Tesco executive to say customers wanted a reduction in meat content demonstrates what they are really thinking . It also begs the question if the sausage really is better with 90% meat than 97% why was the original recipe set at 97% in the first place ! It does not stack up .
  7. Fair enough I am usually going through in the morning. On one occasion recently a lady ( customer ) accidentally knocked her coffee over . Within a flash the Costa assistant was on the other side of the counter in seconds with a huge mop . The other Costa assistant prepared another coffee for her the whole mess was cleared in less than 2 minutes and everyone was very happy.
  8. I am certain it’s been going on for a long time but that does not make it right .
  9. I doubt it said on the packet that it was a new lower meat content when it was changed though did it !
  10. If a Director sits before a HoC and refers up an example of reducing meat content on two products it’s fair to assume he is talking about a recent change . He actually said the meat content was reduced from 97% to 90% and that’s why he referenced the meat content. Of course we all buy things we like I get that but my point remains that Tesco and M and S as now shown reduced their meat content and did not reduce their price . @emesdecan go on about the timeline as much as they like ( that’s why I put the confused emoji the timing is irrelevant in the context ) I doubt they knew before this exchange.
  11. I saw it on a House of Commons select committee at which Tesco and other supermarkets were asked to provide evidence about food and the food chain . One of the topics was shrinkflation . If their Director talks about it as in the now which is exactly what he did i assumed that’s what it was after all it was to an official committee . And let’s put it like this did you know it had happened at all ? And if you didn’t don’t you think it’s relevant to know what’s happening to your food ? You can have a pop at me all you like I don’t mind but all I am doing is literally relaying what was said to the committee last week .
  12. Does it really matter when it happened? I was relaying an oral submission of evidence by Tesco at a House Of Commons Select Committee made last Tuesday 30th April .
  13. A bit like some of their sausages that now have 90% meat compared to previously 97% . But their fresh food Director said that reducing the meat content and charging the same price was what customers wanted !!!!!Similarly putting less beef in the beef lasagne!
  14. Am not sure when you have been but every time I go through the airport ( and that’s reasonably frequently) I personally find the Costa staff are always pleasant .
  15. Yes I agree that is a very odd schedule. I still suspect it’s about slot management at Heathrow.
