TUCKER AND DALE VERSUS EVIL
Quality film, really good fun, genuinely likeable main characters, plenty of laughs - me and the missus thoroughly enjoyed it.
Delightfully compact and bijou at just 85 minutes long.
I've seen this too. Heads up to anyone thinking about giving it a go - don't watch the trailer; the one I saw was more like a highlights of all the good scenes in the film and spoilt it a little.
Enjoyed the film though, good few laughs in it.

It is always a big risk to judge a book from its cover!
Can you work out which of these photos is of a rough sleeper and which is of a professor at a prestigious University?
In some ways the sheer bloody-mindedness to study a tiny tiny aspect of the universe (say brain development in zebra fish embryos, or One Loop Corrections to the Rho Parameter in Higgsless Models) does have some similarity with the bloody-mindedness of people being willing to ignore society and sleep rough and eat out of bins!

Imagine the outcry if the Chinese Government were to send an Army team into a foreign country to execute a terror suspect without trail....
Only for lack of confidence
China will step up its foreign intervention as it gains confidence in it's military power (as any big country does).

Lets try another one....
Free Tibet :-)
Still alive....
I'll admit I know little about China, but are you that confident that China (or any other country) does not abuse 'human rights' merely because you have not had the displeasure of experiencing it first hand? You've stated how big a country China is, and I would view it as ignorant to say that the country does not have these problems, despite the evidence from many bodies to the contrary. Your statements just help ease the pressure on such governments, when things may not be as blissful down the road.

Watched Taken, the other night. It was a French production, but in English. I thought it rather watchable. I like Luc Besson movies with The Fifth Element probably being in my top ten.
Watched 'Unknown' tonight. I've not read the book, but the film was really good. Not quite as good as Taken, but gripping thriller nonetheless.

Barrie - I'm calling shit.
Why would the bank have any reason to 'seize' ships? It's the holding company in trouble, and if so the bank can just seize the still (decently) profitable SPCo as a going concern.
-
If you research that you'll see the main reason for the foreign crew was to break the Union hold on ICG Plc.
A company said they didn't sack off the local staff to pay less, it was for other reasons? How odd.

It works both ways, SP aren't at a complete disadvantage. For sure, there probably isn't much money in foot passengers - but vehicles I'm guessing are another story. Putting everything in containers straight for Mezeron is a disadvantage too, when they'd normally be just on the road network in the UK. The passenger facilities on the SP are primarily needed for vehicle drivers, commercial or non-commercial, and foot passengers are just a bonus on top of that.
As a going concern, SP itself is still profitable (still even a decent profit, the pre-Mez profit was just bloated).

Let's be honest - it's at the worst possible time for the public. How many ministers are going to allow a risky face-off with the steam packet right before an election?

Agree with theycallmesteve, great film, great twist at the end.
I thought the twist was a bit pants, it made the whole film untenable and stupid.

What about the weird hat lady from Peel?
Is that the cat woman?

Clash of the titans, first film I've watched in 3D.
The films average, bit of an incoherent mess with very good action sequences. Problem is, the 3d renders all those sequences into blurry messes. Most of the screen seems to be out of focus, with just the foreground stuff standing clear. It's also really gloomy looking. Is all 3d this shit?
Nah, Clash of the Titans wasn't filmed for 3D. They 'adapted' it when they saw how successful Avatar is.
That said, I wouldn't say 3D adds a lot to any film, but I wouldn't judge it based on what you saw.

Still got Frontiers, Martyrs and Baise Moi to watch over the Easter weekend....
Frontiers is amazing.

Watched Rec 2.
Not quite as good as the first, more of a religious element and the french police have never played counter-strike, but still a quality watch.

Tyre chips are controversial in their effect on the environment (leaching of metals etc). The properties that make them so good as tyres unfortunately make them very hard to recycle - and burning them releases a lot of carcogens and other shit (although I imagine our big expensive energy from waste plant filters a lot).
There will also never be enough demand for tyres in the applications Yessir stated, we just have too many of them.

Harry Brown .. bit slow at the start but good film.
Midgets vs Mascots - pretty funny.

I watched Crank 2. The first half being a really good watch, the second half being a boring shitefest that deserved a switch off. If you're going to give it a watch, don't worry about missing anything if you want to turn it off about 2/3rds of the way when it gets crap, nothing else worth watching happens.

Xmen: Origins. Scenes were shot well and it wasn't bad but the plot wasn't there
7/10

Frontieres is a great film.
Saw Frost/Nixon last night, wasn't a bad film (might as well skip the first disc though).

Rec's decent (if a bit obvious in places)

Now if you use their figures one comes to the following conclusion - the average cost of a 'damage only' (ie slight) accident was £1,309. Assuming 5% p.a. inflation the cost by 2010 would be a bit under £1,400 per accident. So IF the magic roundabout saved 4 slight accidents a year it would save £5600 p.a.

It doesn't look a bad plan but £4m for such a project seems a bit of a white elephant (same with the runway extension). I take it most of the money will be spent on the new 'bridge' and groundworks, but a lot of these pet projects have pretty absurd price tags - is there anywhere we can see any form of pricework for these?
If it's at the display or whatever I apologise, but I can't really be bothered going to a rounabout convention

The government owns a pub? So many puns

Great movie, pretty dramatic and a fair bit of gore. Whilst it did overdo it sometimes, easily one of the best horror movies I've seen in a while
