Did you see the Breitling guy (Yves Rossy) flew in the grand canyon ??
The Phoenix Fly guys (from Need 4 Speed) hang out on one of the US wingsuit forums and hearing the video editor guy talk about how they approach the prox flying is just awesome, they pick a line and dial it in getting closer and closer every run.
My average flat fall rate (jumping in a normal suit and not a wingsuit) is about 124mph but in my suit my best average is 51mph with a lowest speed of 34mph. I've got a couple of weeks of jumping in spain coming up where I'll put some serous time into flying my new bigger suit and I'm aiming for low 40's average fall rate. The best winguit flyers in the world are almost managing to get enough lift to 'fly up' but only for a few seconds - the key point though is the forward speed, to get a low fall rate you need a high forward speed - 120mph+
There is a guy with a pair of jet boots flying a wingsuit.
And this is the one to watch over the next couple of weeks.
Jeb Corliss to fly through cave.
