I'm quite happy with the current library - it's an improvement on the old one at the town hall. The automatic doors must help people in wheelchairs and with prams and surely anti-theft devices must be fairly standard at libraries.

When I was a teenager here in Douglas 20+ years ago, there was the Crescent Leisure Centre - a major hang out for teens which along with the usual gaming and gambling machines had more fairground type attractions in the summer - ghost train, shooting range, etc. There was always a weekly under 18's disco in the cave or various other places along the prom also a roller disco at summerland. It's a far cry from the monthly U18 disco at the villa. I personally feel quite sorry for today's teens, not everyone enjoys sports or organised youth clubs. I think the Island would benefit from a leisure centre similar to Summerland, with a bowling alley etc and where better to put it than right in the middle of town?
