For some reason that link has now disappeared and been replaced with:

Presumably the link wording wasn't felt to be 'positive' enough.
I love the explanation that 'It'll be all right now because it's got warmer.' Especially as the forecast is for it to get colder. And even though they haven't done anything. And seem unable to provide a road surface that doesn't break up under anything other than ideal conditions - something that places with more extreme climatic conditions than the Isle of Man (ie practically everywhere on Earth) seem to manage.
Just out of interest, Would it be worth just starting a "Crowd Funding Campaign " just to get the Richmond Hill re-surfacing paid for, and done by Colas ?, ( the goverment pennies / allocation`s for it , i think went to / blown in a gift to the Yemen ), or do we still have enough pennies to pay for it from our £10 billion reserves, ( just asking for a friend ) ?

I think chris kinley is pretty good on the tt broadcasts. At least he seems to have a passion for it. He is the voice of the tt and will rightly be revered in 20 years time. Jo pack's alright too.
He is the voice of the tt and will rightly be revered in 20 years time, a bit like Jeff Cannell and Peter Kneale.

Nothing to see here - Staus Quo preserved, Tax payer funded, Rob Callister blogs his latest success....
Struggling to uncurl my toes.
It would probably be too late in the day now for any other another option i would have thought.

Yeah, that's debatable. Some drop off that ramp if you're heading Colby way.
I take it flat out, just to prove a point.

Whoever the fleet manager is, is doing a good job in my opinion. I don’t see many brand new cars knocking about, but there are several quite old ones still in use.
Just how old is the silver focus or the Hyundi. Both still going.
I remember the days when it was no problem to buy Sierra Cossies and top of the range Range Rovers etc
I can’t see why anyone would complain about buying another unmarked car that blends in well to do it’s job. Saw it the other week pulling in a white van man. No problems with unmarked cars at all.
And what is wrong with police on push bikes ( they are a hell of a lot cheaper ).

The grey Beemer is a 2016 ex demonstrator bought with some mileage on it, early 2017 if I remember correctly. A car I hold in some affection as it was the last police car I ever drove.
The price paid, believe me, was ridiculously low. In fact, we were set to order an unmarked ST Focus when this came available unexpectedly, and we saved several thousands off what we would have paid even for that.
I cant see an FOI request ever giving up individual vehicle prices. It would give the overall expenditure over a year perhaps? The manufacturers do very noble deals for the police service, and as soon as you start undermining the integrity of that then it would quickly change.
Trust me - the cops had some absolutely belting deals on their fleet during the time I served and I’ve no reason to believe that has changed. Down to very hard work on the part of one particularly dedicated individual.
Derek, Do you not concider, fuel, road tax, insurance, depreciation, of the vehicle, and the ( piss off the general public with the new beamer as a police car ) an issue ?

Maybe so, but why don't they just fix the road?
Are Colas not advertising on manx radio an "instant road repair" campaign?

One hour of speed checks on Richmond Hill and the BMW was probably paid for.
No sure about that, i seen him waving his hands a lot, but none of the cars in front of me seem to notice him, and i didn`t either, ( although i did see a few cars in front of me doing a "temperature check" sticking thier fingure up outside just to see how cold it was ) .

There are a lot of high powered sports cars on the Island so they will need to keep up.
Are you paying for them, or is it the taxpayer ( I mean Me ) ?

I came down Ricmond Hill today, and a copper at the home for horses was doing speed checks, not entirley un-expected, but what i didn`t expect to see was that he was in a brand new un-marked "top of the range" grey touring BMW.
When tynwald granted the Chief Constable an extra £3.5m in his budget, i thought it was to be spent for general policing, and not to be spent on grandio`s police cars.

It says it dosen`t effect the child, but the child has a syrian father, and was born in syria, so how does the child have a right to british citezenship ?

Not in so far as where she was born or her nationality.
Not in so far as your claim that the “family arrived 16 years ago”.
So nothing in your claim is true
So, is the child a british citizen or not, as not born here in the ( uk ), so would she have to apply for a visa / passport to bring the child into the uk ?, i am assuming she is out of wedlock, so no father, or if the father is in Syria, he could object to the child being brought into the uk ?

But Energy and 3FM were set up as simple music stations and never intended to offer the breadth of programming that MR does - and that's primarily where the subvention goes. So it's nothing to do with using public money to undercut the competition. In fact that allegation (from the usual suspects) was officially disproved and laid to rest by the OFT last year.
As to 'attract the young', that was the intent of MR's KikFM at the weekends - which as I understand it was closed down after the Darwin Report in return for an increased PSB remit and subvention and to allow the then new Energy to serve the youth market. Of course, they soon realised the unsustainability of that.
The ad loading hasn't gone up in the 17 years I've been there I don't think - still the same number of minutes per hour.

I hope this new boss wake s up to the fact that Manx Radio has very few young listeners and plays more middle of the road music. I like Manx Radio but when that bang bang music comes on with some soft dame repeating one word for the duration of the song I have to turn to Radio 2. I am not a miserable old git when it comes to music love Queen and all the 60 music country and western ,Adele, Doolittle and most peices with a recognisable tune , big band whatever but some of the rubbish churned out is beyond reason I am not alone in this a lot of people have made similar comments. If you do not believe this ask your kids if they listen to Manx Radio. This was actually pointed out in the report before last when it was said that the Station should cater for the audience it had not the audience it would like leave that to Radio 1.
It must be difficult for the likes of Energy and 3FM to compete with radio advertising, when manx radio is subsidized, and can undercut the competition, and has the TT coverage / commentary to get the cream of the advertising revenue.

They tend to entirely close Richmond Hill in the event of snow these days so I can't see the closed lane being of any consequence.
But could it not just be open when it is snowing for 4 x 4`s ?

But why, if the kids in the school are vaccinated, surley it dosent matter if a kid who is not vaccinated comes into the school, he can`t pass it onto anyone else who is vaccinated.
