  1. OK Barrie, thanks for your reply, even if I fail to understand what you're on about. I've no wish to steer this thread in a different direction, but it sounds like you were a come over, and have now left. I've no problem with that, and I think you'll find most Manx people also wouldn't have any problem with it. Fortunately for you, the Island and the Manx people continue to keep close ties with many 3rd world countries, England included. How do you expalin such a silly remark as England being a 3rd world country. Quite simply that, for a while recently, when the bilateral healthcare agreement with England was uncertain, travellers to England were advised to have healthcare insurance. Just as you would have when travelling to any 3rd world country. Bizarrely, venturing to Wales or Scotland was OK. Currently, my feelings are being compounded by the fiasco with tuition fees. But there's another subject... Please feel free to reply, but lets try and keep the subject to the Steam Packet.... and that makes England a 3rd world country! i agree keep it to the steam packet. you could always start another thread.
  2. I would be troubled more about who's bad books your in if i was in your shoes andy.

  4. I thought the UA is for use of the link span and not exclusive rights to ship freight to and from the port. Before signing the UA it might have been a good idea to explore the possibilitys of where competition may come from and how you would defend your position. Its blindingly obvious that freight can come and go just yards from where the Ben docks.I'm just suprised it has taken so long for this situation to come along. As far as a level playing field goes then i wonder if Woodward wears only clothes that have been made by people who are paid the minimum wage to produce them.
  5. Ive just checked 6 minutes after you and the website confirms what i had been told on the phone earlier that there is no space available. You may call it strangeI might call it something else as its cost me over £100 to fly back and a wasted £33 ferry ticket.
  6. Enoughs enough.Monday boat was full, The Wednesday 2.15 from Heysham is full,Thursdays crossing doesnt leave till 3.00 am due to the tide.I already bought my ticket but have been held up because of the weather.Ive give up and booked with manx2 for the morning.
  7. twice this week i have been told by the booking office that the ben is fully booked for foot passengers.Any chance of a ride back with mezeron i wonder.
  8. The Estonian crews may be glad of the work from Mezeron otherwise the option may be ships layed up and no work for the crews and I bet no dole money. Any company taking over the Steam Packet should be MADE to employ MANX workers who pay tax and insurance here first and English second. non of this Guernsey crewing rubbish. I do hope you were under the influence of drink when you wrote this.
  9. Two points.Firstly, there are a large number of people who are facing an uncertain future and running up to Chistmas makes it even more distressing for them.Secondly, If a shipping company offer to carry tesco trailers for £30 per unit less than mezeron then you will without a shadow of doubt see a new boat in the harbour very soon.
  10. anyone remember this http://www2.iomtoday.co.uk/pdfs/Revenue%20and%20Profit.pdf
  11. Tesco have been hawking this contract about for two years that i know of and they were looking for savings however small,It would not suprise me one bit if tesco had put up some funds to buy a boat.
