  1. Iron Man 2. Poor, poor, poor. Confusing, no character development, lack of any excitement or anticipation, internally inconsistent. The only thing that kept me going to the end was imagining Kermode doing the "mumble-mumble-mumble, wee-wee-wee-wee" impression of the lead characters.
  2. Broadly Barrie, No! Preserved for posterity.
  3. If you disclose the IP address that you're using to post, in order to demonstrate that it's not allocated to the Steam Packet, then it would go some way to showing that you're not a MW sockpuppet.
  4. MW scare tactics? I don't remember anything about the pension fund in the 2008 accounts. No as its been explained to me he's right. The SP scheme has no rights under the UK Pension Protection Fund as its an Isle of Man based plan so if SP goes tits up I'd be a bit worried if I was in it myself as the protection is a big fat 'zip' in the Isle of Man. I concur, but the PPF only kicks in if the employer is insolvent and the scheme its unable to meet its liabilities. Security of members rights will depend on the current level of funding of the scheme, which may be available in the accounts but will definitely be available in the last actuarial report.
  5. Contravenes SOLAS regulations in at least half a dozen ways. You still have most of the staff costs (apart from contract workers), depreciation of fixed assets and other indirect costs. You save on the fuel but the break even point is probably quite a low load factor. Also, I may be wrong on this, but aren't some of these night sailings designated for handling HAZMAT, which would mean reducing capacity significantly on the remaining sailings. They're a profit centre. Prices would be even higher without them. (ETA: d'oh!)
  6. Scott Pilgrim. It was, like, awesome 'n stuff. Actually, it was very good. Well written, several laugh out loud moments, good acting and a great visual style. Even included a bit of Seinfeld. No exploding helicopters, though.
  7. I think we've seen different versions of this film. The one I saw featured mega-graphic torture porn. I agree with Bozz. But afterwards, how did she maintain lift and avoid stalling at low airspeeds
  8. Moon (2009) by Duncan Jones. Super, old school SciFi and all for a budget of only £5m.
  9. Actually now that you mention it, 1245 would be more like it.
  10. After months of spotting Bizarro-Thriller (white fiesta, blue stripes), the real thing (blue fiesta, white stripes) on peel road today about 2.
  11. I always felt that was a good idea. Sorry I'll get my coat..... ...so you have a long-felt want. There's no answer to that! (Thank you Eric Morecambe)
  12. Swiss Chalet every time. Everything fresh cooked and carvery-ed by the chef. Very busy on Sunday lunchtimes with two specific sittings and the average age of the clientele tends to be relatively high, but the food is good.
