  1. and the 200 horses power was using all the water they could get from around laxey ,some of the lades went past glen roy and up to snaefell and even then the mines ran short of water in summer . the amount of water they use now is a mere trickle of what was used before
  2. dont think it was used for cleaning , went in to the directors cars . it also came over on the same boat as the bikes
  3. I remember it being run by a mr and mrs McCauley ,that would be around 1986

The wier was built by the electric railway , it was a patent built one that was supposed to regulate the river flow and allow water to travel down a lade to a water tubine to generate power for the tramway, some off the bits are still their , the stone building just up from the shore pub held the turbine and a sluice valve controlled the flow. it caused a flood in the 1935 ? flood which again caused serious damage on glen road
