I guess this could all be put into 3 separate posts but I'm a bit lazy so I'll just put it all into 1.
1. From reading the exit framework and listening to DA it sounds like all adults will have had their first dose of the vaccination by the end of May but actually it says they will be 'offered' a first dose by the end of May, meaning they will send the letters out by the end of May from what I can deduce and therefore actual jabs will come sometime after this. I'm totally happy to concede I'm wrong on this if someone can point me to something more conclusive but this play on given a jab vs. offered a jab is cloudy, they could just be a bit clearer. This matters because it affects the dates in the exit framework and so we'll have to be restricted for longer but interestingly it's still ahead of where the UK are saying they will be at the same stage of vaccination - somehow.
2. Regarding the below, I sincerely hope we don't think of a "new normal" which has been talked about for ages. It should just be normal, 2019 normal. Why would we live in a state of permanent or even semi-permanent social distancing, mask wearing, plastic partitions everywhere etc. That isn't life. I get it that temporarily it has helped, specifically social distancing, but really the vaccine given the high efficacy of many of them should mean that we live normally with the virus as we do with other unpleasant viruses.
3. Finally, I've decided that I've landed on the side of Mr Turd being right about family visiting. Initially I really wasn't sure and hadn't given it a lot of thought because I'm not waiting for family to come and visit me but we should allow residents to come back and isolate for 2 weeks with a few tests and so I really don't see any issue with letting non-IOM based family members do the same, either alone or with their family if all adhere to the same rules as current residents have to abide by. If it's on the same basis as returning travellers are following them I really don't see any issue with it.
